However, sessions must take place every two weeks. I offer fortnightly sessions of one hour that will cover 4 counselling hours per week for 拢35 per session.

About me and my therapy practice

Are you looking for supportive, informative and gently challenging supervision? I will provide an encouraging, empathic, and supportive space for you.

I am an integrative psychotherapist and clinical supervisor. I initially trained using Clarkson's relational framework to integrate person centred and psychodynamic approaches. However, I am also trained to use CBT and Person-Centred Experiential Counselling for Depression (PCE-CfD), as well as in Internal Family Systems (IFS) or "parts" work and EMDR. I am also a qualified pet bereavement counsellor and I use attachment-informed grief therapy and IFS to work with bereavement and loss.

As well as being an accredited member of the 糖心官网, I am a registered member of the EMDR Association UK, and an accredited member of the Association of Pet Bereavement Counsellors.

I have experience of working as a therapist and assessor for the NHS. I am familiar with the NHS Talking Therapies (formerly IAPT) system and using IAPTUS to make referrals etc. I now run my own successful private practice. I work for Health Assured Wisdom Wellbeing, and I am a BUPA recognised therapist. I use Solution Focussed Brief Therapy and CBT in my Health Assured work.

Practice description

I am a CPCAB level 6 qualified clinical supervisor. I am a registered practitioner for supervision and psychotherapy at Leeds Beckett University and Birmingham Newman University. I also supervise trainees at the University of East London.

I am experienced in supervising therapists from a variety of modalities and at various developmental stages. Identifying and meeting individual supervisory needs is an important skill in supervision. My background is in higher education, so I can adapt to different learning styles and patterns of relating, to provide you with the level of support and guidance that you need.

I am currently supervising trainees from several colleges and universities across the UK. I am a registered supervisor for Leeds Beckett University. I am also supervising newly qualified counsellors, and I have experience of helping therapists establish a successful private practice and get through their 糖心官网 accreditation. I also supervise more experienced therapists that are entirely in private practice, and others that are juggling a portfolio that includes paid and unpaid employment.

I use the seven-eye supervision model to inform my supervisory practice. This allows us to pay special attention to the client-counsellor and supervisor-supervisee relationships, as well to the other important aspects of supervision that include client presentations, CPD/training, legal support, ethics, emotional support, and other institutional factors. I can also provide guidance on the 糖心官网 accreditation procedure.

My first session

We can start to explore your individual supervisory needs in a free introductory phone call. If we decide to work together, we can explore your specific needs in much more detail in our first session. These might include specific ways of working or an explicit client base. You might like to work creatively or be very person centred. I am flexible and open to all ways of working.

In our first session together, we can also decide on how we exchange relational feedback, so we can reflect on our process. I want your supervision to be everything I want my own supervision to be. This is supportive, informative, gently challenging, and an overall pleasant experience for both of us.

Sessions from £85.00

My online fees are 拢85 for an online or in-person session. EMDR works very well online and I have bespoke software to facilitate this.

I offer in-person and online sessions, as well as hybrid sessions (a mix of remote and in-person sessions). I am flexible and I can fit into your schedule. I have some evening online availability, and I currently have in-person availability in Nairn (IV12).

I work for Health Assured Wisdom Wellbeing, and I am a BUPA recognised therapist.

About me and my therapy practice

Don't treat the symptoms; treat the cause. My name is Joanne, and I can help you to heal your mental health difficulties, through proven evidence-based therapy. Traditional counselling focusses on your symptoms and requires you to think your way out of a problem. My evidenced-based approach includes Internal Family Systems (IFS) parts therapy, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprogramming (EMDR), and/or Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). Both IFS and EMDR directly heal the root cause of distress at the subconscious level.

I am a qualified integrative psychotherapist, and I am educated to the Postgraduate level. I have NHS experience and I currently work privately as well as for Heath Assured and BUPA. My IFS training is accredited with the IFS institute (IFSI) and is endorsed by the internationally acclaimed psychiatrist Dr Richard Schwartz (the founder of IFS). My EMDR training is accredited with the EMDR Association UK and EMDR Europe. I am fully qualified to EMDR Level 4 as required by EMDR Europe.

As well as being accredited with the 糖心官网, I am I am a registered member of the EMDR Association UK. I am also a pet bereavement therapist, and I offer IFS and/or EMDR for pet-loss grief, alongside more practical pet bereavement support and attachment-informed grief therapy. I am an accredited member of the Association of Pet Bereavement Counsellors.

I have worked with people from diverse backgrounds and with a variety of mental health issues. These included anxiety, depression, relationship problems, trauma, bereavement/loss, low self-esteem, sexuality, work-related issues, pet bereavement, menopausal issues, insomnia and anger management. I also have experience of working with neurodivergence, including ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia, and Dyspraxia.

Practice description

Our nervous systems are wired when we are very young. IFS and EMDR work on dysregulated nervous systems to treat the causes of anxiety, depression, relationship problems, complicated grief, low self-esteem, sexuality issues, anger management, as well as most other mental health problems. Both IFS and EMDR can be used in isolation or together to treat nervous system dysregulation that occurred in adulthood or childhood, as well as prenatal, cultural and legacy trauma (passed down from our parents).

EMDR uses your brain's physical ability to change and adapt (neuroplasticity). This involves dual awareness whereby you focus on a painful memory while following a visual, audio or physical rhythm (bilateral stimulation). This rhythm taxes your working memory and forces your brain to unlock rigid trauma neural networks and connect them with heathier adaptive networks in the brain. Painful memories are reprocessed and they lose their emotional charge.

IFS works on a 鈥減art鈥 of your personality which is a cluster of specific neural networks. Instead of using bilateral stimulation, IFS uses mindful compassion and internal safety resources to calm the amygdala and enhance the prefrontal cortex. By comforting and understanding 鈥減arts鈥, we are changing the neural networks that are holding the pain.

Given that both IFS and EMDR structurally alter the brain, they work well together. IFS can enable our protective neural networks to be ready to do the EMDR work. Some people struggle to find positive adaptive neural networks, and IFS as well as attachment-informed EMDR techniques, can therefore be used to facilitate this.

I also offer CBT which can help you to become your own therapist, by learning how to recognise and change your own automatic thoughts and behaviours. CBT is particularly effective for treating anxiety and insomnia, but also menopausal mood and vasomotor symptoms. I also integrate IFS with attachment-informed grief counselling to work with bereavement and loss.

My first session

I offer a free telephone consultation where we can explore your therapeutic aims and expectations. I can also answer any questions you might have about me or my practice, and we can work out how we might work together.

In the first instance, you may want to commit to a limited number of sessions, or you may want a more open-ended approach. We can discuss this in our initial consultation.

Once we start working together, I will suggest regular reviews and feedback on our progress, and we will use NHS approved mental health audit tools to guide us to a successful outcome. Regardless of the cause of your suffering, as a human being you are entitled to lead a happy and fulfilling life. I can help you to achieve that and help you to find peace and stability.
