About me and my therapy practice

I am a ÌÇÐĹÙÍø-accredited integrative counsellor and certified mindfulness teacher, offering both short- and long-term therapy tailored to each person’s individual needs and goals. My approach is grounded in humanistic values, recognising that every client is unique and that the therapeutic relationship is central to creating meaningful change.

Drawing on a range of therapeutic approaches, including Person-Centred Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), mindfulness, and trauma-informed practice, I adapt my work to suit each client rather than expecting clients to fit one particular model. Together, we work at a pace that feels safe and manageable, exploring thoughts, emotions, experiences, and patterns of relating to support greater self-awareness, emotional wellbeing, and lasting change.

Alongside my general counselling practice, I have over 15 years’ experience supporting autistic individuals and those with ADHD across education, healthcare, and community settings. I offer a neuro-affirming approach that takes into account sensory needs, communication styles, and different ways of processing the world, creating a therapeutic environment where clients can feel understood, accepted, and able to be themselves.

Practice description

My aim is to provide a safe, compassionate, and non-judgemental space where you can feel comfortable talking openly about whatever is bringing you to therapy. Whether you are experiencing anxiety, depression, the effects of childhood trauma, relationship difficulties, bereavement, low self-esteem, or challenges related to autism, ADHD, or other aspects of neurodivergence, we will work together to understand your experiences and identify what you need to move forward.

I believe therapy should feel collaborative and supportive. I will listen with empathy, curiosity, and respect, while gently helping you explore patterns, develop new perspectives, and build practical strategies where appropriate. My approach is trauma-informed and culturally sensitive, recognising and valuing the diversity of each person’s identity, experiences, and background.

Above all, I strive to build a trusting therapeutic relationship where you feel accepted, empowered, and supported to develop a stronger sense of self and create meaningful, positive changes in your life.

My first session

I offer a free initial consultation before we begin working together. This gives us an opportunity to discuss what has brought you to therapy, what you hope to gain from counselling, and whether I feel I am the right therapist to support you. It also gives you the chance to ask any questions and decide whether you feel comfortable working with me.

If we decide to continue, our first full session will focus on getting to know you in more depth. We will explore your current difficulties, personal history, strengths, and goals for therapy, always working at a pace that feels right for you. There is no expectation to share everything immediately; establishing trust and helping you feel safe is an important part of the therapeutic process.

By the end of the session, we will have agreed how we will work together and begun to develop a shared understanding of what you would like to achieve through therapy.
