About me and my therapy practice

My practice is humanistic-integrative, which means I don’t treat you as a list of diagnostic labels or a case to be solved. Instead, I meet you as an equal, looking at your life holistically. Your emotions, body, thoughts, and your environment are all connected; when life feels overwhelming, it impacts your physical energy and how you connect with the world just as much as your mental health.

I specialise in long-term, relational therapy. From an attachment perspective, the struggles we carry as adults, whether that is chronic anxiety, depression, or persistent low self-esteem, rarely appear overnight. They are often rooted in early childhood experiences and the unconscious survival blueprints we built to get by. Because these patterns operate automatically, they are hard to break on your own. In our sessions, we gently bring these hidden drivers into the light.

I believe that because psychological wounds are often created in relationships, they can only be truly healed within a safe relationship. Our connection is the vehicle for change. I am an interactive therapist, not a silent wall. Sometimes, the old patterns and expectations you carry from the past will show up right inside the room between us. When those old feelings come alive in our sessions, we face and process them together in real-time. By repeatedly accepting and holding your feelings exactly as they are, we work to build a new, stronger foundation for your emotional life.

Healing is foundational work, but it doesn't have to be entirely grim. Because our relationship is real and human, our space always holds room for genuine warmth, lightness, and authentic connection.

Practice description

When you choose to work with me, you can expect a grounded, down-to-earth, and non-judgemental environment. You do not need to tidy yourself up or hide the messy parts of your life before you come to see me. I provide a steady, maternal warmth that is deeply safe and consistent, but I am also clinically robust. I can hold the heavy stuff with you.

Before retraining as a psychotherapist, my professional background was in nursing. Spending years on hospital wards and working within occupational health taught me a great deal about human nature, resilience, and vulnerability. This healthcare background means I am highly experienced in supporting people through complex stress, life transitions, trauma, and work-related mental health difficulties, including workplace burnout.

Alongside my private practice, I am the Head of Adult Services at a local low-cost counselling centre Community Interest Company (CIC). In this role, I manage our adult counselling provision, which involves clinical standards, safeguarding and involves supporting and mentoring both qualified and trainee counsellors within our community service.

Logistics & First Steps:

I work from a quiet, confidential therapy room at the Meridian Centre in South Birmingham. To create a consistent, safe "container" for deep work, we will meet weekly on the same day and at the same time. Each therapeutic session is 50 minutes long and costs £60.

Taking the first step is rarely easy, but you are here, and that is a significant start. To help you decide if the way I work clicks for you, I offer a free, brief 15-minute phone call before booking an initial session. This phone call is entirely collaborative, completely pressure-free, and gives us an opportunity to see if we are a good fit to work together.

About me and my therapy practice

My supervision practice reflects a down-to-earth, humanistic-integrative philosophy. I view supervision not as a rigid clinical checklist or a space where I act as an "all-knowing expert," but as a secure, collaborative joint inquiry into the relational processes at play in your work. As therapists, we hold an incredible amount of weight for our clients. To do deep, depth-oriented work without burning out, we need a robust container where we can look honestly at what is happening in the room, and within ourselves.

In our sessions, I work using Peter Hawkins and Robin Shohet’s systemic Seven-Eyed Model of Supervision. If we only focus on a client’s symptoms, we miss the richest parts of the therapeutic work. This framework allows us to step back and safely look at the entire ecosystem of your practice. Together, we will explore the client’s world, your choices and interventions, the parallel processes shifting in the relational space, and your own internal countertransference and responses.

My approach is informed by my role as Head of Adult Services at a local counselling centre CIC, where I support the clinical growth of both qualified and trainee counsellors. I understand the realities, constraints, and ethical pressures of both agency work and private practice.

Supervision with me is non-judgemental and collaborative. While I provide a sturdy, safe space to look at complex risk or ethical dilemmas, our sessions are also a place for real human connection. We will work together to protect your well-being, widen your clinical perspective, and help you find your own authentic way of being as a practitioner..

Practice description

When you choose me as your supervisor, you can expect a grounded, collaborative, and entirely supportive space to hold your practice and deepen your work. Whether you are a seasoned private practitioner navigating complex cases, an agency therapist managing a heavy workload, or a trainee building your clinical confidence, my focus is on keeping you and your clients safe while nurturing your professional growth.

I am an Accredited Member of the ÌÇÐĹÙÍø and am currently working towards my Diploma in Supervision, training with the Centre for Supervision Training and Development (CSTD Bath). My clinical background is rooted in healthcare; before retraining in psychotherapy, I spent many years working as a nurse, which gives me a deeply holistic understanding of burnout, human resilience, and systemic stress.

Alongside my private practice, my role looking after adult services at a local counselling CIC involves managing complex clinical cases and safeguarding on a daily basis. I bring this robust ethical grounding into our supervision, helping you untangle clinical dilemmas with clarity and confidence.

Logistics & First Steps:

I offer supervision from a quiet, confidential space at the Meridian Centre in South Birmingham, as well as via secure online video sessions. I work with individuals and can accommodate monthly or fortnightly arrangements depending on your practice requirements and membership needs.

Finding the right supervisor is a relational decision. To help you decide if my approach and style click with your way of working, I offer a free, brief 15-minute phone call. This gives us an opportunity to discuss your current caseload, your supervision requirements, and see how it feels to work together.
