About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I’m Helen.

Life can throw some serious curveballs, and when it all starts to feel overwhelming, it can be hard to know where to turn. Maybe past experiences have left you feeling stuck or unsure of yourself, or perhaps things feel like too much to manage alone. I’m here to listen, understand, and support you in finding a way forward. Together, we’ll navigate the challenges at your own pace, without judgment, and focus on what matters most to you.

I’m a fully qualified, insured, and DBS-checked Accredited therapist, EMDR Practitioner, and Clinical Supervisor.

But beyond all the qualifications, my focus is on the relationship we’ll build. I truly believe that the connection between therapist and client is key. People have called me personable and approachable, and I aim to bring that energy into our sessions. Therapy with me is a conversation—real, human, and sometimes even humorous when it helps. (And yes, I’m not afraid to drop the occasional swear word if it best captures a feeling.)

My goal is to support you in as few sessions as you need, offering a safe, open space where you can be yourself and explore what’s going on without any pressure. Therapy doesn’t have to be formal or intimidating—let’s figure it out together.

Practice description

My primary approaches include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). CBT aims to help you understand the relationship between our thoughts, feelings and behaviours which are all connected. By helping you change one of these, we can change the others.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a psychotherapy approach designed for working with distressing or traumatic memories. The theory behind EMDR is that many psychological diffi¬culties are the result of distressing life experiences which have not been stored in memory properly and are said to be unprocessed or blocked.

EMDR helps you process and recover from past experiences. It involves using side to side eye movements or tapping, combined with talk therapy in a specific and structured format.

EMDR helps you process the negative images, emotions, beliefs and body sensations associated with memories that seem to be blocked. EMDR therapy can help reduce unhelpful thoughts, requires minimal talking, increases self-esteem and helps you to see things from a different perspective and relieves the symptoms that you are suffering.

About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I’m Helen.

I’m a fully qualified, insured and DBS-checked Psychotherapist, EMDR Practitioner and Clinical Supervisor specialising in trauma. I work with adults who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or impacted by past experiences that still feel present — including complex trauma, PTSD and complex childhoods.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is a powerful, evidence-based therapy that helps the brain process distressing memories so they feel less intense and intrusive. Alongside EMDR, I integrate CBT and other approaches to tailor therapy to you as an individual.

Practice description

I have experience supporting neurodivergent clients and understand how trauma and neurodiversity can intersect. Therapy with me is collaborative, flexible and adapted to how your brain works — not the other way around.

Above all, I believe the relationship between therapist and client is key. People often describe me as warm, down-to-earth and approachable. Therapy with me is a real conversation — human, compassionate, and sometimes even humorous when it helps. (And yes, I’m not afraid of the occasional swear word if that’s what fits.)

Starting therapy can feel daunting. I offer an initial chat so we can see if we’re the right fit. My aim isn’t to keep you in therapy forever, but to help you move forward in a way that feels steady and sustainable.

Sessions are available online via Zoom, so wherever you are, support is just a conversation away.

About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I’m Helen.

I’m a fully qualified, insured, DBS-checked and ÌÇÐĹÙÍø-accredited therapist and Clinical Supervisor, holding a BA (Hons).

My approach to both therapy and supervision is integrative. It’s grounded in my early training, particularly the importance of the core conditions, alongside CBT-informed interventions. I also draw on more recent learning, including Polyvagal Theory (supporting understanding of the nervous system), and ACT (offering mindful ways of relating to thoughts and body sensations).

I’ve had the privilege of working with supervisees from a range of modalities. I value these differences and have found that working across approaches can be enriching for both supervisor and supervisee, supporting curiosity, flexibility, and deeper reflection.

I particularly enjoy working with qualified and experienced therapists who are looking to grow and expand their ways of working, whether that’s deepening existing skills, integrating new approaches, or developing greater confidence and autonomy in their practice.

Practice description

Feedback from supervisees (shared with consent):

“From the outset, I experienced the space as safe, respectful, and non-judgemental, which enabled me to be open and honest in my reflections. This had a significant impact on the depth of the work I was able to do, and helped me to build both confidence and self-trust in my practice.â€

“The balance you held between support and gentle challenge felt very appropriate. Your way of working encouraged me to think more critically and reflect more deeply, without ever feeling overwhelmed or directed.â€

“Helen has been such a huge support in my role as a therapist. She is a calm voice in a crisis and able to gently challenge my thinking. I work from a different modality, and it’s been incredibly helpful to receive interventions that still feel aligned with my person-centred approach. I’ve always felt respected, even when I’ve chosen not to take something forward. That different perspective has been invaluable for both my learning and my client work.â€

I offer an initial, informal chat to see if we’re the right fit. Sessions are available online via Zoom, so wherever you are, you can access a supportive and reflective space.
