About me and my therapy practice
You may be seeking therapy for many reasons, including anxiety, addiction, a loss of direction, self-harm, questions of identity, relationship difficulties, or trauma. Whatever brings you to therapy, I offer a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space where you can speak freely and explore what is troubling you at your own pace.
My work is grounded in careful listening and a respect for the uniqueness of your experience. Together, we can explore the meanings, patterns, and unconscious dynamics that may be shaping your thoughts, feelings, and relationships. This approach recognises that symptoms and struggles are not simply problems to be eliminated, but may have something important to tell us about our lives. Rather than offering ready-made answers, therapy provides an opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of yourself and your situation, opening up the possibility of meaningful change and new ways of relating to yourself, others, and the world around you.
Practice description
I trained as a Person-Centred psychotherapist, and my primary orientation is Lacanian psychoanalysis. My work is grounded in the Person-Centred principles of empathy, acceptance, and genuine listening, while drawing on Lacanian psychoanalytic ideas to explore the deeper patterns, meanings, and unconscious dynamics that may shape your experience. Therapy is tailored to each individual, recognising that no two people encounter their difficulties in the same way.
Alongside my psychotherapy practice, I am an ordained Zen monk and previously worked as an intercultural artist for many years. Both of these experiences have shaped the way I listen, think, and engage with the complexities of human experience, and they continue to inform my therapeutic work.
I offer sessions in a quiet, comfortable room on Hope Street in Liverpool city centre, providing a safe, confidential, and supportive space for therapy. Online sessions are also available for those who prefer to meet remotely.
My first session
You are welcome to contact me by phone or email to arrange an initial meeting. Finding a psychotherapist who feels right for you can be challenging, particularly if you have not had therapy before. To support you in this process, I offer a free 30-minute initial consultation, giving us an opportunity to meet, discuss what brings you to therapy, and consider whether working together would be helpful for you.
