About me and my therapy practice
I am qualified in Humanistic Therapeutic counselling and Trauma Therapy.
I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists and The National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society and I hold an Enhanced DBS certificate, a certificate of insurance and I undertake regular clinical supervision with a registered supervisor.
I work from my core Person Centred beliefs and training that you are the only person who knows how you are thinking and feeling and that you have within you all of what you need to live the life that you want to live.
And so the counselling space is for you, where together we work to support you to choose what you want to discuss, what you want to work on and what changes you may want to make.
It is a confidential space for you to explore any aspects of your life, your feelings, your thoughts, your relationships and life experiences that you feel may be impacting or have impacted your life and that may have brought you to counselling and where together we work to find ways for you to choose how you want to move forward in your life.
I value our whole being, our physical, emotional and psychological being and how we experience our relationships with others and self and how we experience our environments and our circumstances. So fundamental to how I work is offering a space where we can work together to hear, recognise and value all of you.
Practice description
I work from a log cabin in my garden which is in Maidstone Road Chatham.
As there is a very long bumpy, pebble path to my counselling room I am happy to discuss if an alternative to my room would be something you may like to try. This may be phone, online or a home visit.
The 101 stops outside and if driving there is free parking in Asdas overflow car park.
Both self referrals or professional referrals are accepted.
I hold an Enhanced DBS certificate
My first session
If you have not experienced counselling before you may not know what to expect or what is expected.
Following your initial contact I offer a free introductory 1 hour session to discuss how I protect your privacy and what you may be hoping for from counselling.
It is also time where we can discuss any reasonable adjustments that you may need.
If following our discussion we decide to proceed we can discuss whether you would like face to face, online or phone counselling and we can book an appointment to meet at a mutually convenient time and discuss how many sessions you would like or if you would like open ended. I will also provide written details of our working agreement and my privacy policy for you to keep and sign either in person or via email and I will also ask to take some personal details.

I work with both long and short term counselling. The number of sessions available is open to negotiation, you may opt to have a set number of sessions or choose to leave it open.
