About me and my therapy practice

I am a highly qualified therapist with over 13 years of clinical experience. I work from my quiet and comfortable practice in Dulwich, Southeast London.

Are you feeling anxious, stressed or depressed? Do you lack self-confidence?  Are you having relationship issues?  Have you suffered a bereavement (including infant loss)?  Have you experienced trauma, now or in the past? Or do you just feel that life could be better?  These are some of the many issues that I have experience with and can help you understand and address so that life becomes more fulfilling.

I am a warm and approachable person and can help guide you through difficult times by providing a confidential, non-judgemental and supportive environment, so that together we can explore issues that are bothering you. Having someone listen attentively to you each week can be invaluable and lead to lasting change.

I am trained as an integrative therapist, which means I tailor the techniques and theories I use to your individual needs. I offer both short-term solution-focussed counselling and longer-term, more in-depth psychotherapy. We can discuss what might be appropriate for you when we first speak.

My priority is to establish a safe, trusting and confidential relationship with you so that you feel able to talk freely about whatever you would like help with. I will listen attentively, try to put myself in your shoes and together we can work to try and improve your situation so that you can get the most out of life.

I work with adults and young people who come with a variety of issues and concerns, including depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, eating issues, isolation, low self esteem or just feeling stuck and wanting to get more out of life.

I have recently completed a training with the Foundation for Infant Loss.

If you would like a no-obligation consultation, please contact me and we can see how we might work together.

About me and my therapy practice

I am a warm, supportive and collaborative supervisor, who is also able to gently challenge you where appropriate, all with the aim of helping you find your own unique voice as a therapist, whilst adhering to best practices in the field.

I particularly enjoy working with newly qualified therapists/counsellors, helping you to gain confidence, develop insight and become skilled, reflective therapists.

I also work with more experienced therapists who might be looking for a fresh perspective to further develop their practice.

I have extensive experience (13+ years) working as an Integrative Therapist in private practice and alongside this have a Certificate of Supervision from Metanoia University and offer supervision either online or in person, with a frequency determined by you.

I offer a free 30 minute consultation to see if we feel we can both work well together.

Practice description

I work in a collaborative way and provide an environment where you feel able to bring your difficulties, struggles and successes without fear of judgement.  I work alongside you to explore your clinical work with openness and curiosity.  When helpful, I offer gentle but constructive challenge, all with the aim of promoting your development, supporting the wellbeing of your clients and ensuring a safe, ethical practice.

Supervision is tailored to your needs and can include case discussion, reflective practice, ethical guidance, and professional development.  We can look at case work, ethical questions, therapeutic techniques, or personal reactions to your clients’ experiences. I aim to help you gain clarity, confidence, and insight into your practice while encouraging you to reflect on what works for you and your clients.

Supervision is different to having therapy and I am happy to discuss issues broader than clinical ones, such as advice on  the logistics of running a practice - from setting up your business to managing your workload and helping with navigating  the practicalities of being a therapist.

In summary, my supervision is:

• Supportive, open and reflective

• Encourages curiosity and exploration

• Collaborative and transparent

• Appropriately challenging to strengthen clinical thinking

• Focused on promoting safe, ethical and confident practice

My first session

I offer a free 30 minute session to see if we both feel we can work well together. Please email me at abi@abialmondcounselling.com to set this up.

In the first session, we will focus on getting to know each other and establishing the foundations for our work together. We will discuss your training, experience, current clinical work, and any areas where you would like support or development.

This session is a chance to clarify expectations, establish boundaries, and agree on the structure and focus of future supervision.

The aim is to create a safe, supportive, and collaborative space where you feel confident to explore your work, reflect on your practice, and develop your professional skills.
