About me and my therapy practice
I am Eileen, an experienced counselling supervisor and counsellor offering supervision and counselling in a warm, reflective and professionally grounded environment.
Experiences within my own life led me towards professional training and a career in counselling, supervision and therapeutic support, following an earlier professional career in commerce.
My way of working is grounded in gestalt and person centred experiential humanistic therapies.
I have worked within a variety of therapeutic settings including private practice, voluntary sector counselling services, hospital and organisational environments, with experience in both clinical and managerial roles. My work has also included workplace counselling and affiliate work with employee assistance providers.
Alongside my therapy practice, I also work as a therapeutic supervisor supporting counsellors and other professionals. My supervisory approach is relational, reflective and collaborative, offering a supportive and containing space in which practitioners can think openly about client work, professional development, ethical practice and the emotional impact of therapeutic practice.
Whether working therapeutically or in supervision, I aim to offer a safe, reflective and respectful environment built upon trust, authenticity and confidentiality.
Practice description
I believe that both therapy and supervision work best when people feel safe enough to reflect openly, explore difficulties and be fully themselves without fear of judgement.
My way of working is warm, thoughtful and relational. I value the importance of creating a space where people feel heard, respected and supported whilst also feeling able to explore challenge, uncertainty and growth at their own pace.
As a supervisor, I aim to offer a reflective and collaborative space where counsellors can think openly about their client work, professional identity, ethical practice and the wider contexts in which they work. My supervisory practice is informed primarily by the seven eyed model together with developmental perspectives, recognising the importance of the therapeutic relationship, self awareness and the broader relational and organisational context.
I value supervision as a reflective and restorative space. I recognise that therapeutic work can at times feel emotionally demanding, complex or isolating and I aim to provide supervision that feels supportive, grounded and containing whilst still encouraging curiosity, insight and development.
I welcome both qualified counsellors and trainees and have experience working with practitioners from a range of therapeutic modalities and service settings.
Alongside supervision, I work therapeutically with clients experiencing a wide range of emotional and psychological challenges.
My first session
The first session offers a space to begin considering what has brought you to supervision or counselling at this point in time.
I aim to provide a calm, welcoming and supportive environment where you can speak openly and at your own pace.
For counselling clients, the initial session offers space to talk about the challenges you may be experiencing, any hopes or expectations you have for therapy and whether counselling or supervision with me feels like the right fit for you.
For supervisees, the first session provides space to think about the setting in which you work and what you may need from a supervisory relationship. We can also discuss together the practical aspects of supervision including frequency, contracting and ways of working that feel supportive and professionally appropriate.
Developing trust and a sense of safety is an important part of both therapy and supervision and this can evolve naturally over time.
If we decide to continue working together following an initial session, we can agree a way of working that feels supportive, appropriate and professionally grounded for your individual needs.
