About me and my therapy practice
I feel very positive about the impact that counselling can have and I'm passionate about making it accessible and inclusive.
I believe that given the right circumstances, everyone has the capacity to feel happier and more fulfilled. It's often difficult to appreciate our uniqueness. Our life experience can cause us pain and complicate how we feel about ourselves, other people and life in general. It can also create punishing expectations. I'm open to hearing what is important to you and I won’t make judgements or assumptions.
I have over 23 years of experience in offering counselling, supervision and counselling training in many different settings, including health centres, mental health charities, local authority employee assistance and student counselling services.
Practice description
My counselling approach is underpinned by person-centred values of empathy, acceptance and authenticity. I draw on nature connection, Buddhist psychology and mindfulness. I have always enjoyed working creatively and more recently I trained in IFS (Internal Family Systems) which offers further creativity and insight.
My counselling work outdoors has been influenced by Martin Jordan and Nick Totton and my own experience of nature meditation. Counselling inside can sometimes involve ‘bringing the outside in’, through reflection of time spent in nature and imagining an external place of tranquillity.
I am especially interested and experienced in work around:
Loss and Bereavement;
Meaning and Purpose in life
Sense of Belonging and Inclusion;
Work related Stress;
Perfectionism and Self-criticism;
Change, Uncertainty and Transitions.
I also have years of experience working with:
Depression and Low Mood
Stress and Anxiety
Confidence and Self-worth
Relationship issues
Equalities, Diversity and Inclusion

My first session
