About me and my therapy practice
I am an accredited member of the 糖心官网 with over 20 years鈥 experience, having trained at the University of Cambridge. I offer individual counselling in central east Cambridge, working with people on both a short-term and longer-term basis. I also provide remote counselling online.
My aim is to offer a calm, thoughtful and supportive space where you can speak freely and at your own pace. I will be alongside you with empathy, care and without judgement, helping us to notice together what feels most important and what may be helpful as our work develops.
Over the years, I have worked with people of many different ages and backgrounds, supporting them with a wide range of experiences including depression, relationship difficulties, addiction, loss and bereavement.
Practice description
My original training was in the psychodynamic approach, but now I work integratively so that I can respond more openly and sensitively to your individual needs. Counselling can offer a place to understand yourself more fully and to feel less alone with what you are carrying. You do not need to arrive with answers. Often, simply being able to say 鈥淚 don鈥檛 know鈥 can be a meaningful and honest starting point. Meeting at the same time each week can also help to mark out a regular space that is truly yours.
My consulting room is comfortable, private and close to Cambridge city centre. It is on the ground floor, with a cloakroom nearby and easy access from the street. There is parking close by, as well as a bus service every 15 minutes. I also offer remote online sessions, video call and telephone. I understand that people can have busy lives these days and so I am flexible when we meet.
Alongside my private practice, I am also a recognised EAP therapy provider for BUPA, AXA Health, Aviva, Vitality Health and WPA.
My first session
Our first session will usually begin with some practical information. I will explain therapeutic confidentiality, my cancellation policy and the fee, including my sliding scale. This first meeting is also a chance for you to get a sense of whether you would like to continue with ongoing sessions. You are free to stop at any time, although when therapy has continued for several weeks or months it can often be helpful to think together about a planned ending. I will invite you to share what you hope to gain from counselling, and I will be happy to answer any questions you may have, whether in the first session or at any point in our work together. Most of the session will then be for you to begin telling me about yourself and what has brought you to counselling now.
