About me and my therapy practice

Hello, I'm Sarah, and thank you for taking the time to consider whether I'm the right therapist for you.

I am a highly experienced counsellor, clinical supervisor and leadership coach specialising in helping professionals, leaders and those working in demanding roles recover from trauma, burnout, anxiety and life's challenges through compassionate, relational therapy.

I have the combination of nearly three decades in practice, psychotherapy training, NHS Talking Therapies, trauma work, clinical supervision, leadership, consultancy and worked with & in high-pressure professions.

Clients often tell me they appreciate my calm, approachable style and my ability to balance warmth with honest, thoughtful challenge. I believe therapy should be a place where you feel accepted exactly as you are, while being supported to make the changes that matter to you.

Life can sometimes feel overwhelming. You may be struggling with anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, relationship difficulties, loss, low self-esteem or the lasting impact of earlier life experiences. Whatever has brought you to therapy, you don't have to face it alone.

My role is to help you make sense of what is happening, develop greater self-awareness and discover healthier ways of coping. Together we can build emotional resilience, strengthen relationships, increase self-confidence and help you move towards a more fulfilling and balanced life.

I recognise that beginning therapy can feel daunting, which is why developing a trusting therapeutic relationship is at the heart of everything I do.

I offer both short-term and long-term therapy, tailoring our work to your individual needs and goals. We will regularly review your progress together, ensuring therapy continues to meet your changing needs.

If you would like to explore whether we are the right fit, I would be delighted to hear from you. Please feel free to contact me.

I am fully insured, DBS checked and committed to providing safe, ethical and professional care.

Practice description

Are you a client who is specifically looking for depth of experience and are willing to invest in it?

I offer experienced therapy for people who spend their lives looking after others.

My practice is built on over 28 years of experience supporting people through life's most challenging times. As an integrative, relational and humanistic psychotherapist, I tailor therapy to each individual, recognising that every person's experiences, relationships and journey are unique.

My professional training includes four years of specialist psychotherapy training in TA, followed by advanced training in humanistic approaches. I have since completed a degree in Reflective Therapeutic Practice, qualified as a Trauma Risk Management (TRiM) Practitioner within a Police Force, gained specialist qualifications in online therapy, and worked within NHS Talking Therapies, ensuring my practice reflects current evidence, ethical standards and best practice.

I work with adults from diverse backgrounds, including those in the blue light services, senior leaders, people in high-profile roles, individuals within the criminal justice system, & clients accessing NHS Talking Therapies. I have held senior leadership positions responsible for service transformation, workforce development & improving the quality of care.

I have also delivered training in TA and trauma management, provided consultancy to independent fostering organisations, and have personal experience as a foster parent.

I welcome people of all genders, sexual orientations, cultures, faiths and backgrounds. My commitment is to provide a safe, inclusive and confidential space where you feel respected, understood and accepted without judgement. We will explore the experiences that have shaped you and develop new ways of understanding yourself and moving forward.

Therapy can help you gain greater self-awareness, build resilience and create meaningful, lasting change. You don't have to face life's challenges alone.

My first session

Choosing the right therapist is an important decision, and our first session is an opportunity for us both to decide whether we are the right fit.

During this initial assessment, I'll invite you to talk about what has brought you to therapy, what you hope to achieve, and any questions or concerns you may have. I'll explain how I work, answer any questions about the therapeutic process, and together we'll consider whether my experience and approach are the best match for your needs.

Just as importantly, I want you to feel comfortable with me. A strong therapeutic relationship is one of the most significant factors in successful therapy, so it's essential that you feel safe, heard and confident that we can work well together.

The assessment session lasts up to 50 minutes. However, if within the first 20 minutes we both agree that my approach isn't the right fit, or that another therapist or service would better meet your needs, there will be no charge for the appointment. If we decide to continue working together, the full 50-minute assessment will be completed and my usual session fee will apply.

If we choose to proceed, we'll begin developing a shared understanding of your difficulties, agree your goals for therapy, and discuss whether short-term or longer-term work is likely to be most beneficial. My aim is for you to leave the session feeling listened to, informed and able to make a confident decision about taking the next step in your therapeutic journey.

About me and my therapy practice

Choosing the right clinical supervisor is one of the most important investments you can make in your professional development. My aim is to provide a supervision space where you feel supported, appropriately challenged and confident to explore your clinical work.

I work with counsellors, psychotherapists, CBT therapists, PWPs, trainees and qualified practitioners across NHS Talking Therapies and private practice. Having worked in clinical, supervisory and leadership roles, I understand the different pressures clinicians face and tailor supervision to your experience, therapeutic approach and professional goals.

My supervision is collaborative, reflective and evidence-informed, built on trust, openness and psychological safety. Together we explore clinical work in depth, helping you develop confidence in your clinical judgement and professional identity.

Alongside case discussion, I support treatment planning, risk assessment, safeguarding, documentation, ethical dilemmas, professional boundaries and the emotional impact of therapeutic work. I have particular expertise in anxiety, depression, trauma, long-term conditions and complex presentations, while maintaining evidence-based practice and NICE guidance where appropriate.

My approach combines warmth, encouragement and thoughtful challenge. I offer constructive feedback with compassion, creating a safe space where learning, reflection and growth can flourish.

Whether you are working towards accreditation, newly qualified, developing your private practice or seeking experienced supervision, my goal is to help you become a confident, ethical, resilient and reflective practitioner. I also place great importance on therapist wellbeing, recognising that well-supported practitioners provide the best outcomes for their clients.

Practice description

With over 28 years' experience, I provide counselling, clinical supervision, leadership coaching and consultancy to individuals, organisations and professionals seeking compassionate, evidence-informed support. My approach is grounded in humanistic values, creating a safe, collaborative and non-judgemental space where people can develop insight, build resilience and achieve meaningful, lasting change.

I work with adults from all walks of life, including professionals in high-pressure environments, senior leaders, and those working within the blue light services. Sessions are available primarily online and by telephone, providing accessible, flexible support wherever you are.

My psychotherapy training includes four years of specialist training in TA alongside extensive education in humanistic counselling and reflective practice. I continue to invest in my professional development, including advanced online therapy training, ensuring my practice reflects current research, ethical standards and best practice.

Alongside my therapeutic work, I provide clinical supervision that supports reflective practice, professional confidence and safe, effective client care. I also deliver leadership coaching, consultancy and bespoke training in TA, trauma awareness and trauma management for organisations and multidisciplinary teams.

Before establishing my private practice, I held senior leadership roles responsible for service development, quality improvement and workforce development. I have also worked as a Trauma Risk Management (TRiM) Practitioner within a Police Force and provided consultancy and specialist training for independent fostering organisations. This breadth of experience enables me to understand the unique challenges faced by both individuals and organisations, tailoring my approach to meet their specific needs.

Whether you are seeking therapy, supervision, coaching or consultancy, my aim is to help you move forward with greater confidence, clarity and resilience.

My first session

Your first supervision session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin building a trusting, collaborative professional relationship. My aim is to create a safe, supportive and reflective space where you feel comfortable discussing your clinical work, celebrating successes and exploring challenges without fear of judgement.

During our first meeting, we'll discuss your professional background, current role, therapeutic approach and previous supervision experience. We'll explore what you hope to gain from supervision, your learning and development goals, and any areas where you would like additional support or challenge.

I'll explain how I work, including the structure of supervision, confidentiality, record keeping, ethical responsibilities and the supervision agreement. This ensures we have clear expectations and a shared understanding of how we will work together to support both your professional development and safe, effective client care.

Where appropriate, we'll begin exploring your current caseload, clinical questions or specific situations that you would like to reflect on. This may include formulation, clinical decision-making, risk, ethical dilemmas, professional boundaries or the emotional impact of therapeutic work. There is no expectation to have everything prepared—our first session is very much about understanding where you are in your professional journey.

By the end of our first meeting, you'll have a clear understanding of my supervision approach, an agreed framework for working together, and a personalised plan to support your ongoing learning, confidence and professional growth. My aim is that you leave feeling heard, supported and reassured that supervision is a space where curiosity, reflection and development can flourish.
