About me and my therapy practice
I offer a helping hand to adults in crisis. The crisis may vary from one person to the next, from relationship problems to redundancy, from bereavement to bullying. If you're feeling anxious or lonely, isolated and invisible or maybe lost sight of who you are because things around you are changing, I may be the person you're looking for. I've over 35 yrs experience in and around the NHS, have supported many people, with many different problems in many different ways.
If you're in need of time out and want a safe, confidential space while you work things out with someone who genuinely cares then call me. Do it now because you don't want things to get so bad that they turn into a lifelong health issue. I can meet you in Bournemouth, Wimborne or Dorchester for a chat (FOC) in the first instance to work out how best to start helping you.
Past DWP's Able Futures Vocational Rehabilitation Coach, providing early intervention psychological support.
University Hospitals Dorset past Mental Health Panel member.
Author of 'Masqueraid: when will you show me who you really are? A beginners guide to authenticity'. A book for the curious, self-reflective adult, who is exhausted by social performance, and wants to understand their masking patterns by exploring authenticity without exposure.
The book opens with my own story, when aged 12 yrs, I became a primary caregiver, managing household routines, and providing intimate personal care whilst concealing my home situation from peers. Decades later, working as a psychotherapist I recognised the same exhaustion I'd felt in clients: people performing competence, cheerfulness or strength so consistently they'd forgotten what they really felt underneath.
With the Venetian carnival as its central metaphor, I guide the reader through twelve structured chapters, each built around a vividly designed mask and a dimension of personal change. I've included case studies, reflective exercises and NLP informed techniques to make this a working tool.
Practice description
I draw on my past training and extensive professional experience in healthcare as a nurse, past midwife and educationalist in combination with my training as a Psychotherapist and Master Practitioner of NLP to help you build or regain greater personal resilience.
This might include engaging in mindful based practices, undertaking self reflection, actively engaging with a range of evidence based tools and techniques.
