About me and my therapy practice

Welcome. I’m Lindsey, a counsellor and psychotherapist providing a trauma-informed/responsive relationship.

Cultivating body/mind awareness and connection, working with individuals, relationships, couples, supervisees, young people and groups, providing a therapeutic relationship grounded in empathy and genuineness.

In alignment with the person-centred philosophy, I trust that you are the only one who truly knows the way, even if it doesn't feel like it for you. Therefore, I work collaboratively and at your pace to explore thoughts, emotions, responses, relationships, and patterns that can help you better understand yourself and find a clearer, more accurate, empowered perspective.

I also recognise the influence of relationships, and wider cultural, social, and political systems. With an understanding of how adversity, marginalisation, minority stress, loss, and abuses of power affect emotional, physical, and material well-being and our sense of self. Yet I hold hope for authenticity, growth and change.

I qualified as a counsellor in 2015 and as a psychotherapist in 2016. I hold a First-Class BA (Hons) in Person-Centred Counselling & Psychotherapy, a PGCert in Psychological Trauma, and a Diploma in Education. I am also trained in EMDR, Ecotherapy, Couples Counselling, and Clinical Supervision. Young People Counselling Qual June 26.

My continuing professional development includes ecotherapy, polyvagal-informed yoga, and embodied approaches to emotional regulation and awareness. I spent seven years teaching counselling from Levels 2–5 and am currently training with Mindfulness Now as a mindfulness teacher.

I value culturally aware and inclusive therapy, including Gender, Sexual, and Relationship Diversity (GSRD). As someone from a mixed British-Egyptian background, I appreciate the importance of culture, identity, and belonging within the therapeutic process.

Registered with AXA, Bupa, WPA, Aviva, and Allianz for clients using health insurance.

Practice description

You may seek support for many reasons, including anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, burnout, grief, emotional numbness, recurring conflict, disconnection, self-sabotage, and effects of trauma and stress that may include the above, as well as experiencing triggers, overwhelm, intrusive thoughts and disassociation.

Sometimes there is a clear issue to explore; at other times, there may not be.

My presence is grounded in a respectful, empathic, and honest way of being, where I aim to hear you in all that you communicate and, collaboratively, facilitate a safe, deeper, sustainable connection with yourself and your guidance mechanism.

As a trauma-informed practitioner, I work collaboratively and at your pace. I believe that feeling deeply heard and understood can support change, but it also necessitates courage as it may involve exploring difficult emotions or protective patterns that no longer feel sustainable. What it doesn't do is offer quick fixes or promises.

However, with greater awareness, it may become possible to loosen old structures and move towards a more grounded and authentic way of being.

I appreciate context. Relationships, culture, trauma, shame, and wider social systems can affect emotional well-being and identity.

Alongside recognising adversity, I also hold hope for resilience and growth.

My first session

Initial Session

I offer an initial session for individuals either in person £30 or free by phone or video call. For couples, the initial session is £35.

If you are planning face-to-face therapy, meeting in person initially can help you become familiar with the therapy space. Sessions take place in a bright yet cosy room on the first floor of Hamble Memorial Hall, which has parking, toilets, and lift access. Please let me know if adjustments are required. Due to fire regulations, the room is currently not fully wheelchair accessible. I also have living plants in the room.

The initial session is an opportunity for you to explore whether therapy with me feels suitable for your needs. If we decide to continue, we can arrange an ongoing day and time for sessions.

Initial / Assessment Costs

Face-to-Face Initial Session — £25–£30 (30 mins)

Walk & Talk Initial Session — £25–£30 (30 mins)

Couples Initial Session — £35 (60 mins)

Zoom or Telephone Initial Session — Free (30 mins)

Planning Therapy

There is no fixed number of sessions, as therapy is individual to each person and circumstance. Some clients prefer shorter-term work, while others benefit from longer-term exploration. If deeper or unexpected material emerges, we may review the pace or focus of therapy to ensure the work remains supportive and safe.

When It May Not Be Appropriate to Continue

There may be situations where it would not be appropriate or ethical for us to work together. This could include dual relationships, ongoing violence within a couple’s relationship, or where specialist or medical support may be more appropriate.

If I feel another practitioner or organisation may better meet your needs, I will discuss this openly and support you in accessing alternative support where possible.
