About me and my therapy practice
We are all made up of many parts, some light, some dark, some we show the world and others we have learned to hide. The darker parts are often those we struggle to sit with or look at directly, parts we push out of awareness or defend against. They are often the parts most entangled with shame.
My aim is to create a space where you feel able to bring all parts of yourself, not just the presentable ones, and where together we can begin to make sense of them. Not to silence the difficult parts, but to understand them, integrate them, and find a way to truly thrive as your whole self.
I am a psychodynamic therapist and also trained in EMDR. I believe our early experiences and relationships shape who we are, how we respond, how we relate to others, and the patterns we find ourselves repeating. This is not about blame, nor is it about remaining in the past. It is about understanding how you came to be the person you are today, so that you can live more fully in the present.
I believe the relationship between therapist and client is at the heart of this work. Together we can explore with curiosity your patterns, responses, relationships, and story. I believe meaningful change often requires us to look honestly at ourselves, and I will support and challenge you in that process within a space that feels safe enough to do so.
There is no right way to do therapy. Some people come for a focused piece of work, while others find that a longer journey feels right. We can think together about what feels right for you.
I have been qualified since 2015. I love the work I do and continue to feel a profound sense of privilege in being entrusted with people’s stories.
Practice description
Sessions are available both in person, from my office in Reading, and online, depending on your preference. I work in both open-ended and time-limited ways, and if you’re unsure which might suit you best, we can think this through together during an initial consultation. I work with adults.
My first session
I believe it is important that, before beginning our work together, you have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about therapy and to consider whether I feel the right therapist for you.
The initial consultation offers a safe and confidential space to begin this process. The session lasts 50 minutes and costs £70. During this time, we will talk about what has brought you to therapy, what you hope to gain from it, and answer any questions you may have. It is also an opportunity for you to get a sense of how I work and what therapy with me might feel like.
