About me and my therapy practice

I help adults who have been carrying emotional burdens while focusing on the needs of others, often leaving little space for themselves. My aim is to support you in finding a way of living that feels calmer, more balanced, and more connected to your own needs.

You may be holding everything together on the outside while struggling internally. You might be supporting family members, managing relationship difficulties, or feeling the ongoing impact of anxiety, bereavement, or a significant life change. These experiences can build over time, leaving you feeling emotionally exhausted, on edge, or unsure how to move forward.

I offer a calm, supportive and non-judgemental space where you can talk about what is happening in your life and how it is affecting you. Together, we can begin to make sense of your experiences, understand patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and explore what moving forward might look like for you—whether that involves adjusting to change, rebuilding after loss, or considering a next chapter that feels more manageable and authentic.

I have eight years’ experience working in schools and four years with adults, supporting people with anxiety, bereavement, neurodiversity, family difficulties, relationship challenges, and life transitions.

My path into counselling was shaped by both professional and personal experience. Earlier in my career, I worked in a family law setting, where I saw how emotional and relational difficulties often continued long after practical matters had been resolved. My own experience of grief, and the support I received through counselling, also contributed to my decision to train as a therapist. These experiences inform the steady, empathic way I work.

I currently have availability for new clients and also welcome those returning after a break. Please feel free to email me to arrange a free, no-obligation introductory call.

Practice description

Many of the people I work with have spent a long time coping with difficult circumstances, supporting others, or managing emotional responsibilities on their own.

Therapy offers a space where you can begin to focus on yourself, perhaps for the first time in a while.

I am a Person-Centred counsellor, which means I don’t direct sessions or tell you what to do. Instead, I offer a calm, supportive and non-judgemental space where you can explore what is happening in your life at your own pace.

Together, we can begin to make sense of your experiences, understand their impact, and consider what moving forward might look like for you — whether that involves adjusting to change, rebuilding after loss, or finding a way of living that feels more manageable and authentic.

Having a regular space to reflect can help you feel clearer about what you need and more grounded in your decisions.

My first session

Before we begin, I offer a free 30-minute phone call. This is a chance to talk a little about what has been going on for you, ask any questions you may have, and get a sense of whether I feel like someone you could work with. There is no pressure to decide at this point.

If you choose to book a first session, I will send you my contract and terms in advance so you have time to read them at your own pace.

Our first session is a space to begin gently. Many people arrive feeling unsure where to start, carrying a lot emotionally, or used to holding things together for others. We begin wherever feels most important for you.

My aim is to offer a steady, grounded space where you can speak freely without having to filter or organise your thoughts. Some people find they talk a lot in the first session; others take time to settle in and say very little at first. Either is absolutely fine.

I will ask a few gentle questions about your current situation, support network, and any previous experience of counselling, but we move at your pace. These conversations are there to help me understand the context of what you are bringing, not to interrogate or rush you.

As the session unfolds, we begin to build a sense of what has been happening in your life and what it has been like for you to carry it. Many people find this in itself brings some relief — having space to be heard and not have to hold everything alone.

By the end of the session, we will usually have a clearer sense of what you are hoping for from therapy and whether working together feels right. This might include finding more clarity, feeling more grounded, or beginning to imagine what needs to change in order for life to feel more manageable.
