About me and my therapy practice

I am a Person-Centred Integrative Psychotherapist, Clinical Supervisor and Group Facilitator.

People flourish when they experience relationships that are accepting, authentic and compassionate.

With a Person-Centred Approach; informed by attachment theory, developmental trauma and creative psychotherapy. I am interested in hearing your story but more than that I want to know how you experience your story, so that you can make sense of it.

I help you to cultivate the care and compassion that you need to be able to manage life, especially during the difficult times.

And I want you to embed that life is a process and not an outcome. Because if you were able to be fixed, it would mean you were broken and you are not.

I believe every person makes sense within the context of their life experiences. It is not your story that helps the therapy it is your experience of it. I work from a non solution based practice to allow you to freely experience your emotions in a safe, authentic relationship. The aim is to help you feel heard, accepted and understood. In this process it enables you to build stronger and healthier relationship and maintain a a more balanced mindset.

I also offer bespoke Grief coaching sessions that include an embodied approach to allow you to process your grief in different ways through creative expression.

Whether you are seeking therapy, supervision or a space to reconnect with yourself through creative wellbeing, you are warmly welcome.

Practice description

I'm a person centred and creative therapist, and I work with adults experiencing the lasting impact of trauma, difficult relationships, loss, emotional overwhelm. I work from the belief: that humans are not broken. We find ways of surviving shame and experiences that once felt unsafe or overwhelming. I can help you find sustainable ways to help you to manage the weight you carry.

According to studies there is vast evidence that therapy works best when you feel safe and connected to your therapist. My practice focuses on what the research and real human experience both show matter most:

Diagnosis

A diagnosis can help you to feel validated but it doesn’t define all of you and you are more than a set of symptoms. I approach everyone with curiosity, respect and an understanding that your responses have meaning. This helps to shift feelings of shame, opening space for compassionate exploration of you.

Relational healing

Change happens within an accepting relationship. A trusting, attuned therapeutic relationship creates a corrective emotional experience — one where patterns stemming from earlier pain can be recognised, processed and gently reshaped.

The impact of adversity

The impact of Trauma and chronic stress can leave us overwhelmed with our lives and without hope. I work with approaches that support regulation so that you can feel more grounded, present and able to access your resources.

Creativity

Healing is not always an intellectual task. Creative, embodied methods (such as guided imagery, expressive exercises and somatic work) allow you to access parts of your experience that words alone can’t reach. Creativity can help you to create meaning, of yourself and your story helping you to find hope and restoration.

Why connection matters

Connection is the base in which healing grows. When you feel seen, heard and held in a non-judgemental way, your brain and body can begin to repair. Connection reduces shame, increases safety and supports lasting change.

My first session

I do not work from a set plan as such as I like to collaborate with your needs and wishes. The first session is often relaxed and you may bring a list of things that you want to share with me but also you might turn up and not have a good idea. Therefore the first session I will run through with you some of the things to expect. Clients often tell me they appreciate having a space where they don't feel rushed or judged.

I work gently and collaboratively, where we decide together what will help allowing therapy to unfold at a pace that feels safe.

Sometimes we simply talk. Sometimes we explore creativity, the body, encourage meditation and stillness or moments of silence.

Sometimes we look at ways to help you beyond the therapy room and explore how these might work for you in your life. In the first session you can expect to be asked simple questions that will help me to provide the space that you need. These questions can include

  • What would you like to gain from therapy?
  • what helps you to feel safe?
  • is there anything you feel you would like to happen before at the end of therapy?
  • How are you experiencing your life right now?

This list is not exhaustive and some people feel more comfortable with questions and other people want to share a lot of what is happening for them. You can expect to be

  • gently guided and regular check in's surrounding emotions
  • Gaining clarity on your experience and highlighting what barriers you might be experiencing.
  • Space and time to really focus on emotional experiencing
  • Validating and educating on aspects of trauma reactions
  • Feeling validated throughout
  • Sign posting to practical services if needed

I offer 15 minute consultations for free at the moment so you can have an idea if I am the right fit for you
