My work hours can be quite flexible - with working with children and young people sessions are likely going to clash with school - please do not be deterred by this - improving your mental health will eventually improve all other aspects of life including education.About me and my therapy practice
I am a person-centred counsellor with ten years of experience working with children and young people, with a particular specialism in supporting teenagers through some of the most complex and challenging years of their lives.
At the heart of my practice is relationship. I believe that real change happens not through techniques or strategies, but through the experience of being truly seen, heard, and accepted perhaps for the first time. My role is to offer a space where that can happen; one that is safe, non-judgmental, and entirely free from the pressure to perform or pretend.
We live in a world that asks a great deal of young people. Social media, the relentless pursuit of more, the pressure to look a certain way, be a certain way it is little wonder that so many children and teenagers are struggling beneath the surface. So many feel the need to wear a mask; to hide who they truly are out of fear of rejection or of simply not being enough. What I offer is the opposite of that world a space where the mask can come off, where vulnerability is not a weakness but a quiet kind of courage, and where a young person's individuality is not just accepted but genuinely celebrated.
I work at a pace that feels right for each young person. There is no agenda, no checklist, and no expectation of who they should be or how they should feel. I bring warmth, honesty, and a deep respect for each person I work with and I hold trust as the foundation of everything we do together.
If you are a young person wondering whether counselling might help, or a parent or carer looking for support for someone you love, I would be glad to have an initial conversation to see if we might be a good fit.
Practice description
Every session is led by you. You might come with something specific on your mind, or you might simply see what comes up once you're in the room either is completely fine. Conversation here is never rigid or rehearsed. You might start talking about one thing and find yourself somewhere else entirely by the end, and that's often where the most meaningful moments happen.
If you prefer a little more structure, we can work together to think about what you'd like to get from our time, setting out some loose aims or direction that feels right for you. Nothing is fixed, and everything can change as you do.
The space is set up to feel as comfortable and relaxed as possible. For those who find it easier to talk alongside something, there are resources available such as drawing, colouring, playdoh, fidget toys, and yes, even a game of Snap or Uno. We are never too old for any of that, and sometimes the best conversations happen over a card game.
I also recognise that social media and phones are not separate from young people's lives they are woven through them. If something has happened online that you want to talk about, share, or make sense of, you are very welcome to bring that into the room too. I will always work in whatever way feels most natural and helpful for you.
My first session
Before we meet, I would always recommend a brief introductory call particularly if you are a parent or carer seeking support for your child or young person. It gives us a chance to connect, ask any questions, and get a feel for whether we might be a good fit before committing to anything.
The first session is relaxed and unhurried. We will spend time working through a contract together not in a formal or clinical way, but as a genuine conversation about how we want to work together, what feels important, and what boundaries will help you or your young person feel safe. This is something we shape together, and it can always be revisited as our work evolves.
For parents and carers bringing a child or teenager, you are very welcome to be present for all or part of that first session. Sometimes having a familiar face in the room makes all the difference when meeting someone new, and I will always take my lead from what feels most comfortable for your child.
There is no pressure and no expectation. The first session is simply about getting to know each other.
