About me and my therapy practice

When asked how you are is your answer 'fine' or 'ok'?

Do you wonder why that was your reply? You're feeling sad, unhappy, miserable, anything but fine or ok.

We often answer so because we're not sure what's wrong, or we know but we don't feel we can tell another. We think it will pass and we'll feel better again. Or we don't want to burden others with our troubles, or embarrassed to share. We may think others are just too busy or think us weak.

Whatever is going on for you right now I will listen to you, I will hear what you're saying, and I will help you.

I have been meeting people for fifteen years and been able to help them through all sorts of difficult and disturbing times. All these years of experience alongside my own personal events have allowed me to really understand what's going on for you.

You can speak to me for a short introductory chat to find out if you feel I'm the person that can help you. I'm happy to answer any questions or concerns about counselling you may have.

                                                           -0-

As well as my private practice I have over time worked with Macmillan with both patient and their families, a GP surgery covering a range of ailments and mental health issues, Gamcare with gambling addiction, Mankind with survivors of male abuse.

In 2025 I trained with the Foundation for INFANT LOSS as a practitioner for helping those affected by the loss of a child, born or unborn. This included miscarriage, termination, still born, ante natal death, twins, forced adoption, childlessness, and other situations that brought about an untimely loss. Importanly it is not only the mother that may want help. Fathers, siblings, and grand-parents grief may also need attention.

Person Centred counselling together with different ways to manage the grief and acknowledging that the baby was real at whatever stage of life is something that I feel privileged to be able to offer help.

Practice description

On searching for a counsellor you may be confused to discover there appears to be differences in the kinds of approaches.

Quite simplistically my work within the Person-Centred approach is just what it says on the tin, its person centred, its all about you.

What this means is that I won't tell you what to do but allow you to work through at your own pace what's best for you, putting you in the drivers seat.

Whatever it may be that has gone on in you life which has brought you to be reading about me, it can change. I have helped many people that have found themselves in what they feel to be hopeless situations find their way through such times.

Strong feelings can come from either things that have, or you believe may, happen. Life changing events, moving home, career change, childbirth, marriage, separation, illness, anything that involves taking on a new experience. Thoughts of the future mixed with those of past experiences can affect our lives.

Although we I can't change you past I can help you deal with what's troubling you now. Whether a difficult relationship, stress or anxiety, a bereavement, or anything that has brought about change in your life that is difficult to deal with. Worrying, trying to deal with mixed emotions, coping day to day, I can help you bring about change and a sense of wellbeing.

Counselling can help you find a new perspective. Understanding your present enables you to find your way to live whatever a more pleasing and agreeable life means to you. If you seem overwhelmed by how you feel now, it can change. As well as the diversity of the many people and their different situations I have encountered professionally,  my own experiences have given me the ability to have a broad understanding and insight into many of life setbacks and crises.

My first session

I offer an introductory session free of charge as I consider it most important that you feel comfortable with your counsellor.

In this session you can ask anything that is important to you in making your decision. This can be in person at my practice, a private comfy room at my home, or on line via zoom.

My belief that therapy should be available to all I am prepared to discuss an affordable session charge. During this session I will talk to you about appointment protocol, and that the session time is yours to bring whatever is troubling you to the room.

All will be heard without opinion but with empathy, compassion, and sensitivity. Every thing that you talk about is confidential although there maybe some things that have to be disclosed, some of a legal nature, which I will tell you about at before we commence the session.

Should you wish to query anything you read in my profile information you are welcome to call me to check out before arranging a meeting.
