About me and my therapy practice

I'm Helen, an integrative therapist based specialising in trauma therapy, anxiety and relationships with a warm, person-centred approach that is also grounded in clinical expertise. Whether you're navigating the aftermath of difficult or distressing experiences, struggling with anxiety or panic attacks, or finding that low confidence or phobias are holding you back, I offer a safe, non-judgemental space to explore what's getting in the way of you living the life you want.

I work with a wide range of concerns including:

  • Trauma & PTSD & Developmental trauma (from childhood)
  • Anxiety & Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD)
  • Panic Attacks
  • Phobias
  • Low Confidence & Self-Esteem

My practice is integrative, meaning I draw on a range of evidence-based approaches and tailor each session to your individual needs. These include Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), Motivational Interviewing, and both counselling and coaching frameworks.

I believe that with the right support, real and lasting change is possible. My goal is not just to help you cope, but to help you  move forward with a greater cense of confidence, calmness, and clarity.

I am a registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (ÌÇÐĹÙÍø), and I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Integrative Counselling and Coaching, a Diploma in Trauma Therapy, and a Certificate in Motivational Interviewing.

Taking that first step can feel daunting, but you don't have to do it alone.

Practice description

I offer online therapy for adults across the UK and worldwide, with in-person sessions available in N. Dorset.

The basis of effective therapy is a trusting and safe relationship;  establishing this enables my clients to feel more able to open up and talk about some of the perhaps more hidden or difficult areas of their lives. My clinical expertise can help you explore where you might be feeling, stuck, angry, hopeless, confused or sad, and gently approach how that is affecting your life. I may offer different interventions that appeal to you to help move you through your current stage towards a sense of feeling more in control and positive.

My work  is always done in collaboration- if we work together it will be your work, aided by my experience, knowledge and compassion; person to person.

I have been working within the field of mental health for over 30 years and draw upon a vast wealth of different experiences and training to provide many different modalities of therapy. Examples include; person-centred, CBT, NLP, EMDR, and coaching techniques -this allows me to be flexible in my approach; you may find one sort more helpful than another.

Above all we are complex, multi-faceted beings and are continually changing: We have to learn to navigate our own feelings, thoughts, memories, behavioural patterns, bodies (with their hormonal messages and physical demands), belief systems, spirituality (however you see that),  motivations, fears and desires. I believe any or all of these parts of us can be explored within the space of therapy.

My first session

Therapy Sessions are usually for 50 minutes.

EMDR sessions are usually 1 hour and 20 minutes

The initial session will be for us to get to know each other a little. You may want to talk about what brings you here,  and/or we may go through your history.  Some people just want a space to talk about how they are feeling and others prefer a more concrete, clinical plan to reach a particular set of goals. Either is fine or it may change from one to another week by week.

Thereafter sessions are usually held weekly, at least for a while until you feel more stable and self-supporting, then it may be appropriate to move to fortnightly .

Fees are payable in advance or on the day.
