About me and my therapy practice
In-person counselling and EMDR therapy in Hagley, Stourbridge.
Hi, I'm Kira.
Most of the people I work with arrive carrying something they've been holding on to for a long time. Sometimes they can name it as anxiety, low mood or stress, and sometimes they can’t quite put it into words, but they know life just feels harder than it should, and they're tired of pretending otherwise.
They often say things like:
- "I look like I'm coping on the outside, but inside I'm exhausted."
- "I've been through things that still affect me, even though they happened a long time ago.'"
- "I’m not enjoying things like I used to and I don't really understand why."
- "I feel on edge a lot of the time and I don't always know why."
- "I keep getting stuck in the same patterns and I don't know how to step out of them."
- "Nothing catastrophic has happened, but I don’t feel right and I think I need to talk to someone."
If any of this resonates, you don't have to keep carrying it on your own.
Therapy with me...
Therapy with me is a space to slow down and look at what's actually going on underneath.
I'm a qualified integrative counsellor with over twenty years of therapeutic experience, including a decade working within NHS talking therapies, supporting people with anxiety, depression and low mood. I can help if you’re experiencing:
- Anxiety and worry that's hard to switch off.
- Depression, low mood and feeling numb or empty.
- Stress, burnout and the feeling of running on empty.
- Trauma and the lasting effects of difficult past experiences.
- Low self-worth and negative patterns that keep repeating.
Where trauma is part of the picture...
Where trauma is part of the picture, I offer EMDR, an evidence-based therapy that helps difficult memories feel less intense and less present in everyday life. You don't need to know if EMDR is right for you before we start; we'll work that out together.
Whatever brings you here, my approach is warm, collaborative and always led by you.
Practice description
My way of working...
I'm an integrative counsellor, which means I draw on different approaches. This includes person-centred counselling, CBT, emotion-focused work, mindfulness and EMDR. I shape the work around you, rather than fitting you into an approach.
- I take time to understand your past and your present, alongside what you want things to feel like in the future.
- I believe the relationship between us is a real part of the healing, not just the container for it.
- For those carrying difficult past experiences, EMDR can be a powerful way of resolving distressing memories, so they feel less raw, less loud and less present.
- You stay in control of what we talk about and when. Nothing has to be said before you're ready.
A note about EMDR therapy...
Many people come to me having heard about EMDR, but feeling unsure whether it's for them. You don't need to have a single, clear traumatic event for this to be helpful. EMDR can be just as supportive for the slow accumulation of difficult experiences, the kind that don't always feel "big enough" to count, but still shape how you feel today.

My first session
Our first session...
From our first session, my aim is to put you at ease and work at your pace.
Together, we’ll explore where you are right now and the struggles you’re facing, as well as where you’d like to be and what might be holding you back.
My hope is that you’ll leave that first session feeling supported, understood and clear about the next steps.
From there, we’ll shape a therapy plan that’s individual to your needs and wishes. If EMDR feels like it may be helpful, we can begin to move in that direction when the time feels right. We may also take an integrative approach, combining talking therapy, reflection and other techniques, depending on what feels most fitting for you.
You remain in control throughout.
What matters most to me is that I meet you wherever you are, without judgement and that together we can work towards helping you feel more settled, understood, and ready to move forward, whatever your reason for being here.

About me and my therapy practice
Online counselling, EMDR therapy and specialist support for gambling addiction.
Hi, I’m Kira, an Integrative Therapist supporting people who are feeling emotionally overwhelmed, low in mood or anxious to understand what’s beneath the surface and begin to heal from past experiences that may be keeping them stuck.
Many people I work with don’t arrive knowing exactly what is wrong, only that life feels harder than it should. They may say things like:
• “I feel on edge or overwhelmed most of the time.â€
• “I look like I’m coping on the outside, but I’m struggling inside.â€
• “I’ve been through things that still affect me, even though they’re over now.â€
• “I feel stuck and don’t really understand why.â€
If this sounds familiar, you don’t have to face things on your own and therapy can help.
Counselling offers a space to explore what’s going on beneath the surface, whether that’s anxiety, emotional overwhelm, relationship difficulties, or simply a sense that coping feels harder than it used to.
Where trauma may be part of the picture, I offer EMDR, a therapy that can help past experiences feel less intense and less present in daily life.
I also have a specialist interest in gambling addiction, having spent 13 years working with people affected by gambling. Most of the people I work with find themselves in one of two places:
• People who are desperate to stop gambling, but feel trapped in a cycle they can’t break.
• People who have stopped gambling, but are finding recovery harder and more emotionally difficult than they expected.
Gambling is rarely just about the gambling and together we can explore what really lies beneath it.
Whatever brings you here, my approach is warm, collaborative and always led by you.
Practice description
My way of working...
My distinctive way of working brings together different psychological therapy approaches, alongside the learning I’ve developed from many years of working with people who are feeling emotionally distressed, stuck, or struggling to move forward.
• I work with you as an individual, taking time to understand your past and current struggles as well as your hopes for the future.
• I tailor therapy to you, drawing on approaches including person-centred counselling, CBT, emotion-focused work, mindfulness and EMDR, always with your specific needs in mind.
• I’m warm and compassionate and believe the relationship between us forms an important part of the healing process.
• For those carrying difficult past experiences, I offer EMDR, an evidence-based trauma therapy that targets and resolves distressing memories, which can help them feel less intense and less present in everyday life.
My specialist interest in gambling...
For those affected by gambling, I bring over 13 years of first-hand experience delivering therapy to people at different stages of recovery.
• Whether you are still gambling and want to stop, or have stopped and are finding recovery harder than expected, therapy can help.
• Gambling is rarely just about the gambling. Past experiences and unresolved trauma often sit at the heart of it.
• When we address this through EMDR, gambling triggers can often reduce significantly.
• Life in recovery can begin to feel much more manageable and less of a daily struggle.
My priority is always to really get to know you, not just your struggles, but your hopes, strengths and what matters to you, so we can shape therapy in a way that truly fits.
