About me and my therapy practice

I offer counselling for young people aged 13+ and adults, providing a warm, supportive, and non-judgemental space where you can feel safe to talk openly. Whether you are feeling anxious, overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure of your next step, therapy can help you better understand yourself and move forward with greater clarity and confidence.

I work both face-to-face and online with issues including anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, abuse, and the pressures linked to school, college, university and everyday life. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and tailored to your individual needs.

With over 20 years’ experience in education and more than 10 years counselling young people and adults, I understand the emotional, social, and academic pressures that can arise within educational settings. I have a particular interest in supporting students, teachers, and education professionals with stress, burnout, confidence issues, and life transitions.

I have counselled young people within a local youth agency and worked with survivors of sexual abuse and violence through a Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Service, offering sensitive, trauma-informed support.

My experience of studying and working within multicultural communities has strengthened my understanding of diversity, identity, and the ways life experiences can shape emotional wellbeing.

My aim is to help you feel more connected to yourself, more confident in your choices, and better equipped to face life’s challenges.

Practice description

Sometimes having someone impartial to talk to — someone outside of your family, friendships, or work relationships — can provide the space to reflect openly and explore the parts of life that may be causing stress, anxiety, or emotional difficulty.

How can I help you?

As a person-centred counsellor, I offer a supportive, non-judgemental space where you can talk freely and feel genuinely heard. I will listen with empathy and care as you explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences, helping you gain a deeper understanding of yourself and the challenges you may be facing.

I believe that each person has the capacity for growth and change within themselves. Rather than giving advice or directing you, I work alongside you at your own pace, supporting you to find clarity, build confidence, and make choices that feel right for you.

The relationship we build together is important. I aim to create a collaborative and trusting therapeutic relationship where you feel safe, respected, and comfortable being yourself. As every client is different, I tailor my approach to meet your individual needs and goals. Where appropriate, I may also suggest helpful exercises or coping strategies to support you in managing stress and difficult situations.

What can I offer you?

A wide range of counselling experience working with people of different ages, backgrounds, and life experiences

A respectful, supportive, and non-judgemental therapeutic relationship

A calm, private counselling space in a garden room with free parking for face-to-face sessions

Online or telephone counselling for those who prefer remote support or greater flexibility

Your Privacy

Your privacy is very important to me. Any note-taking and record-keeping is kept to a minimum and managed in line with General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) guidelines. Your contact details are securely stored separately from brief session notes, which are coded to help protect your anonymity.

My first session

I offer a free 30-minute introductory session, either in person, by phone, or via Zoom, giving us the opportunity to meet, talk through what brings you to counselling, and see whether working together feels right for you. Following this, we can arrange ongoing sessions either face-to-face or online depending on your preference.

During this session, we will go through a working agreement so we are both clear about your needs, expectations, and how we will work together. I will also explain confidentiality and its limits, helping you feel informed and reassured about the counselling process.

There will always be space for you to ask any questions you may have, and I will do my best to help you feel comfortable, supported, and ready to begin therapy at your own pace.

I look forward to hearing from you.

About me and my therapy practice

I believe that supervision is a collaborative working relationship based on trust, providing the time and space to review all aspects of the supervisee’s client work and personal development. Together we can explore what is working well in your practice and identify areas to develop through further discussion, reading, suggested resources and training to help build and maintain effective therapeutic relationships.

Although I incorporate a selection of supervision models, my approach is simple. As a trained Person Centred counsellor, my aim is to provide empathy, honesty and respect so supervisees feel supported and heard without judgment. I know this is conducive to encouraging supervisees to continue to develop and enhance their counselling skills for the benefit of their clients and themselves.

I am also interested in your approach to self-care so we can reflect on your own wellbeing and management of your caseload. It is important to be aware of your life/work balance and recognise any issues that might be having an impact on your counselling practice. We can look at different options and consider any changes that could be made to help you work ethically with your clients.

Practice description

• I have extensive training and experience working with young people (13+) and survivors of domestic and sexual violence.

• I am in private practice, counselling clients from different age groups and backgrounds.

• I have a Level 5 Certificate in Counselling Supervision and offer supervision to both student and qualified counsellors. I have experience as a counselling tutor at a local further education college teaching Level 2 and 3 Counselling Skills and the Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling.

My first session

If you are interested in working with me, we will arrange a free one-hour session to meet either face to face or on Zoom. This gives us the opportunity to discuss your needs and our expectations of the supervisory relationship. I will send you a copy of my Supervision Working Agreement beforehand for your consideration.

Working within the ÌÇÐĹÙÍø Ethical Framework guidelines, we will explore our roles and responsibilities. This gives both of us the chance to ask and answer any questions we might have for each other which I feel is crucial to building a respectful, trusting alliance.

I am happy to work with supervisees learning and/or practising different modalities if we both feel this is appropriate.

I look forward to hearing from you.
