About me and my therapy practice
I am a warm, approachable, trauma-informed 糖心官网 Accredited Psychotherapeutic Counsellor & EMDR Therapist. I offer a hopeful approach to adults and young people (13+) who have been through difficult experiences by providing a safe, nurturing environment aiming to improve day-to-day living and future peace of mind.
Having originally trained in Therapeutic Counselling, the bedrock of my approach integrates person centred and psychodynamic approaches and has evolved to incorporate Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprogramming (EMDR).
I have a rich experience of 3000+ client hours over ten years working alongside many community groups, with a particular depth of experience working with trauma and neurodivergence.
Practice description
What is my training and experience?
Having originally trained in Therapeutic Counselling, the bedrock of my approach integrates person centred and psychodynamic approaches and has evolved to incorporate Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprogramming (EMDR).
As an Integrative Therapist I can draw upon these ways of working to best suit your needs, at your own pace, providing a confidential space where we work together to make sense of your experiences and promote emotional healing.
Person centred counselling offers attentive, non-judgmental listening, and for many clients the compassionate witnessing of their personal history can be enough. It can be a huge relief talk to someone impartial about difficult thoughts and feelings.
Psychodynamic counselling builds on this approach to explore how past experiences may be unconsciously playing out in the present. The aim is to work with the therapeutic relationship, to illuminate those patterns, allowing more conscious decision making in the here and now.
Alongside this core approach I have a special interest in working with developmental relational or systemic trauma, incorporating both IFS and EMDR into my practice. Both are effective ways of working with, not only trauma, but many common mental health difficulties such as anxiety and depression.
Working with young people (13+)
I am specially trained to work with young people and was School Counsellor for many years, as well as holding a clinical role at a local counselling charity, No5 Young People. When working with young people I adapt my core approach to align with their age and developmental stage incorporating playfulness and creativity.
My first session
It is a brave step to start in therapy and research shows that the key to a successful experience is in the relationship between you and your therapist, so do consider a number of therapists before making a decision.
If you are arranging sessions for a young person, it can be helpful to get them involved in the decision-making process.
I offer a 30 minute free online consultation to see if we feel we are a good match.
What do we talk about in therapy?
There is nothing too big or small to bring into the therapy room and it can be a helpful confidential space to gain an external perspective beyond our network of family and friends.

About me and my therapy practice
I am a 糖心官网 Accredited Psychotherapeutic Counsellor & Supervisor working face-to-face and online. I have experience of working with qualified counsellors and trainees, on an individual or group basis, supporting their work with adults and young people (11+). As a supervisor I鈥檓 trained to work psychotherapeutically across modalities with a guiding principle being the Seven-Eyed Model of Supervision. The focus of the supervisory relationship is to find 鈥渕eaning through meeting鈥 by offering a supportive, non-judgmental space that allows exploration and supports the safe holding of your client work.
Having originally trained in Therapeutic Counselling, as a therapist, I integrate person centred and psychodynamic approaches within the safety of a therapeutic relationship. With young people I adopt a more proactive and creative approach and, for the past three years, I鈥檝e been a Tutor on the No5 Young People Diploma on Counselling Young People (CPCAB).
Alongside my private practice, I am Schools Clinical Lead at No5 Young People supporting the clinical work of a team of School Counsellors in the Reading area.
You are very welcome to have an initial short telephone conversation to discuss your supervisory needs and potential ways of working together.
