About me and my therapy practice

As an Integrative therapist my approach is collaborative, seeking to meet you in conversation wherever you are in your life, without expectation or judgement. I bring a warmth and openness to my work with all clients.

My training in psychotherapy and counselling enables me to explore your experiences with you in a safe and individual way, to reflect and help you find new understanding, perspective and emotional resources. Whether it is something recent that you are struggling to come to terms with, or something more long standing, I would be happy to hear from you.

Although I am experienced in working both in-person and remotely - currently all my sessions are audio, via telephone.

Working via telephone is different from in-person or online. It enables a different sense of security and freedom and I have found during careful development of this way of working over a number of years that using audio only creates a uniquely freeing but focussed conversation and deep connection between myself and my clients.

Sessions are generally on the same day and at the same time each week.

Weekly telephone sessions cost £70.

Initial 30 minute session - Free

Practice description

Practice description

My practice is Integrative (Existential, Psychodynamic and Humanistic), seeking to meet your individual needs. The down-to-earth approach of Existential psychotherapy forms the core of my work with clients, enabling you to reflect on your own values, choices and fears in life. We would work together to understand your experiences, to bring clarity, find possibility, and build on your resources to support you in meeting the challenges you face.

Therapy sessions provide a different kind of emotional and reflective space from that which is found in daily life: it is a space where thoughts and feelings can be explored without judgement or needing to meet the expectations of others. The relationship between therapist and client is significant, being very different from speaking with family or friends, and it forms a dynamic and important element in the therapy itself.

To ask any questions you might have, please do get in touch, either by email and I'll be happy to discuss further if you think this may be something you'd like to explore further.

Previous Experience

Prior to establishing my Private Practice, my previous experience was as a counsellor in a mental health charity in London, seeing clients both short and long-term about a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties. Before that I was a counsellor for a London bereavement service, working with clients experiencing complex bereavement and traumatic loss.

Before training as a therapist, I taught in higher education.

My first session

Sometimes, beginning therapy can feel daunting and you might have questions which you would like to discuss before deciding on a first session.

To help with this I offer an initial phone call of 20/30 minutes (free of charge) which can give us the opportunity to experience how it might be to work together via phone.  In this call I would outline the approach I take in my work and some practical information on audio sessions with me. I would listen carefully to what you would like to briefly tell me has led you to seek therapy at this time.  I may ask one or two questions about what your hopes (or fears) are for the process and we could discuss how these might be addressed.  If you have any questions for me about my practice and way of working I will be happy to answer as openly as I can.

Potential clients often feel more confident after speaking (especially if working via phone is new to them) and we are able to arrange a first session, but there is no obligation to make a decision at the end of the call, you can take time to reflect and let me know.  Either way, I hope that this brief call will help you in clarifying what it is that you're looking for in working with a therapist.
