About me and my therapy practice
As a humanistic therapist, I’m committed to supporting your personal growth and won’t use a one‑size‑fits‑all approach. I work collaboratively and adaptively, drawing on a range of modalities to suit your needs. Together, we’ll agree on the most helpful way forward during our sessions.
Practice description
I bring care, empathy, and 17 years of experience working in mental health across the North East and NHS settings. My approach is integrative, drawing on different therapeutic modalities to meet your individual needs.
Transactional Analysis can help you understand how early experiences shape your patterns and relationships today. Interpersonal Psychotherapy focuses on your current symptoms and how life events such as bereavement, relationship difficulties, or stress may be affecting your wellbeing. I also offer EMDR to support the processing of trauma — whether from childhood or recent events — especially when you feel stuck in distressing memories or long‑held beliefs like “I’m not good enough.â€
Overall, my aim is to help you explore and understand the emotions connected to your experiences, so you can reflect, gain clarity, and move toward healthier ways of coping and healing.
My first session
Your first session involves asking you a lot of questions about you, how you cope, your symptoms and what brought you to therapy. We will also discuss your goals for therapy, expectations and the therapeutic contract if you decide to work with me.
Your first therapy session can be emotionally draining, even if you don’t initially expect it to be.
My main goal is to make you feel as comfortable and safe as possible whilst in the therapy room and I will be checking how you are during our session to ensure you are not feeling too overwhelmed. This is your therapy, and you have the right to stop if a topic feels too uncomfortable.
