I offer sessions most days of the week, and some evenings to accommodate different requirements. I offer long or short term counselling.

About me and my therapy practice

If you've found your way here, something is probably asking for attention a worry that won't settle, a heaviness that's been there too long, a loss you're still carrying. Looking for a counsellor can feel like one more thing to do when you already don't have the energy. I want to make that part as simple as I can.

I'm Rodger Cuddington, a ÌÇÐĹÙÍø-registered counsellor working across Gloucestershire and online throughout the UK. I offer in-person, online and walking therapy sessions for individuals and couples.

People most often come to me with anxiety and burnout, depression and low mood, or grief, loss and bereavement. I also work with trauma, addiction, men's issues, ADHD and Autism Spectrum Condition and I'm particularly drawn to supporting neurodivergent adults, creating a setting where it's safe to be vulnerable without having to perform.

My approach is primarily person-centered, drawing on integrative methods where they help. In practice that means I meet you where you are rather than arriving with a plan. I won't rush you, I won't tell you what to think or feel, and I won't pretend to have answers I don't. What I can offer is steady attention, confidentiality, and time that belongs to you.

We usually work in blocks of six sessions and review together as we go whether to continue, pause or end is a decision we make with each other.

A client's words:

"I met Rodger for bereavement support after the death of my girlfriend. I found him very easy to open up to. He understood me with a clear and caring manner and helped me reflect on what I was experiencing. Each session was cathartic, and I could feel myself getting stronger with managing my grief, until I could move on into my new life with confidence." AB

The easiest first step is to send me an email. I'll reply to arrange a short call a chance to talk briefly about what's bringing you here and whether we'd work well together. If it does, we'll agree a day and time that suits you.

Practice description

My starting point in any session is simple: this is your time. You bring what matters to you, and we find a way to work with it together.

For some people that means slowly exploring what's been building up, without quite knowing yet where it leads. For others it means gently naming something they'd like to work towards. If you already have a sense of how you'd like to work perhaps you've had counselling before, or something in particular has drawn you here do share it, and where it fits we'll bring it into our time together.

What I won't do is position myself as the expert on your life. I might offer a thought, reflect something back, or wonder about a different angle when it feels useful  but I start from the understanding that you are the expert of your own life. My role is to listen carefully, stay alongside you, and help you hear yourself a little more clearly.

You don't need to arrive with the right words, or know exactly what you want to say. What tends to matter more is a willingness to be honest and to be seen  on both sides of the chair. I try to bring that to the work too: I'll be open with you about what I'm noticing, and accountable to you for the process we're in together.

Sessions are 60 minutes, weekly or fortnightly, and we'll find a rhythm that feels right for you.
