About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I’m Janet, a relationship therapist working with individuals and couples who are ready for change and want deeper, more loving connections with themselves, their partners, families and others who matter to them.
You may feel stuck in painful patterns, lonely or disconnected, or unsure how to move forward when communication feels blocked or difficult. These struggles can arise within yourself, with a partner, in your family or at work. When unspoken truths and underlying issues are left unaddressed, they can deepen disconnection, create anxiety and keep you caught in repeated cycles of hurt or uncertainty.
I offer a safe, compassionate and honest space to understand what lies beneath the struggle and begin relating in a more conscious way. Together, we can explore defensive patterns and help you move towards the way you want to act and feel in your relationships.
My approach welcomes the whole person and is inclusive of all gender identities and sexual orientations.
A session can help you:
• understand the patterns keeping you stuck, distant or disconnected
• communicate with more honesty, safety and emotional depth
• explore trust, intimacy, sexuality, infidelity, grief or identity
• rebuild after a relationship, family or workplace crisis
• develop healthier ways of relating to yourself, a partner, family members or colleagues.
My background includes counselling, psychotherapy, psychosexual therapy, grief and loss, coaching, education and Family Constellation work. Since 2020, I have specialised in relationship issues, bringing clinical training and lived understanding of how pain, shame, family systems and old wounds can shape the way we relate.
If you are ready to stop repeating old patterns and begin creating more conscious, loving relationships with yourself, your partner, your family or others in your life, I invite you to get in touch.
Practice description
I support individuals and couples with relationship difficulties involving themselves, partners, family members or colleagues, including:
• communication, intimacy, trust, relationship anxiety and repair
• sexual shame, sexual anxiety, trauma, consent and healthy sexuality
• compulsive sexual behaviour, betrayal and infidelity
• grief, loss, abandonment, family patterns and relationship breakdown
• workplace difficulties, boundaries, conflict and repeated interpersonal patterns
• identity, loneliness, burnout, menopause and recovery after trauma-bonded relationships.
I have worked across the NHS, hospice settings and private practice, supporting people through anxiety, trauma, intimacy difficulties, grief, separation and loss of identity.
I also specialise in men’s relational health, offering a space where vulnerability and strength can be explored with respect and care.
My work combines heart-based and systemic awareness with active listening, psycho-education and tools from counselling, psychotherapy and coaching.
With individuals, we can explore your responses, needs and boundaries, and develop healthier ways of relating to yourself, a partner, family member or colleague.
With couples, I work with the relationship rather than taking sides. Together, we can understand shared patterns, repair hurt and create a more loving, emotionally connected relationship.
We begin by agreeing a clear focus. I listen carefully, offer relevant insight and use tools suited to your needs. You will leave with clearer understanding, practical tools and next steps towards the change you want.
My first session
The first session begins with the working agreement so the legal, ethical and personal boundaries of therapy are clear. You can ask questions about the sessions, my approach or background.
We will explore what has brought you to therapy, the wider context and the relationships involved. Whether you attend individually or as a couple, we will agree a focus. This may include your relationship with yourself, a partner, family member or colleague. You only need to share what feels comfortable. I offer a safe, non-judgemental space where you can be as honest as you are able to be.
How to begin:
1. Contact me and briefly say what you would like support with.
2. We arrange a short call to check whether my service feels right.
3. If it is a good fit, we book a convenient session.
4. You read and agree to the working contract.
5. Payment confirms your session.
6. You arrive, and we begin the work together.
Do I need to know exactly what I want to work on?
No. You only need a sense that something needs to change. We can clarify the focus together.
What happens in the short call?
We briefly explore what you need, answer initial questions and check whether my approach feels right.
Do you work with individuals as well as couples?
Yes. I work with individuals and couples experiencing difficulties within themselves, with a partner, in their family or at work. Individual therapy can stand alone.
For couples work, do both partners need to be equally ready?
It helps if both are willing to engage, but you do not need to have everything worked through. Openness and honesty are a helpful starting point.
What if I feel nervous about starting?
That is completely normal. You will not be pushed, blamed or judged. We will work at a pace that feels safe while supporting meaningful change.
