Availability

As I work out of two geographical office locations, my appointments available are variable week to week unless we have mutually agreed a routine appointment slot for you either online or face-to-face.

My DG location office and online appointment diary has more availability for evening appointments.

About me and my therapy practice

Hi, thanks for stopping by to read my bio. Hopefully, it'll give you enough information to decide to start your counselling journey with me as I know it's not an easy step for everyone to take. That's OK, we're all our own person and what works for one won't work for another.

I work in a person-centred way and that means with you at the centre of all we do together. I could offer the fancy terms of "pluralism, person-centred, emotion focused, trauma and AuDHD/ADD/ADHD/ASD informed" etc. and while I am trained and experienced in all of those modalities, it's you the person that I'm most interested in supporting and facilitating the held space for in the counselling appointments.

I have lived experience of and work quite extensively in my practice with neuro-diverse/neuro-complex adults, children and young people. I can work with your diagnosis or your curiosity to explore the diagnosis path if that's for you.

The world is getting louder, anxiety producing, complicated, more crowded yet more divided, and more isolating for some of us. This is something I aim to counter in our counselling work together. If you recognise yourself as feeling more unsure, anxious, sad, lost or "other" to name a few difficulties, then our counselling together can help to explore this to see what it means for you in your life.

Coming from a psychological "beginning" (BSc Hons), a complementary therapy "middle" (FHT approved) and a Pg Dip counselling & clinical supervisor "present" means I deliver holistic counselling experiences. I’m also certified in online & telephone counselling, Children and Young People and Emotion-Focused Therapy Level I and II.

I love the harmony and grounding that my "Green therapy" therapeutic horticulture and rural life afford me. I aim to incorporate more of this into my counselling in future.

If this is something that resonates for you, or even if it doesn't but my bio piques your curiosity, please feel free to contact me. I look forward to hearing from you

Practice description

I offer an open, supportive counselling space that allows you to unfold and explore the various difficulties you may be experiencing at this time in your life.

I can offer short-term counselling or deeper, longer-term psychotherapy but both will work at your pace towards your hopeful future. You may be a seasoned counselling practitioner or an unsure "newbie" to the counselling world but together we will work to help unpick the difficulties to help you move forward.

I am happy to work at your pace and if that's a dynamic, quick moving one or a slower, more reflective space then I am happy to match that.

Sometimes people will come into therapy with a list of "fixables" to be sorted through quickly and other people are unsure but feel that something is "off" but don't know what. Both, and more types of "counselling beginnings" are OK and we can work together to sort out what will work best for you in a collaborative way.

I also offer Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) support and if your business needs a counsellor then look no further as I have years of experience supporting work colleagues in a business setting.

I especially enjoy working with young people and children (7+) and with their families that may be struggling under the huge parenting requirements of modern life. P

Undiagnosed Parental Neurodiversity has always made parenting harder than for Allistic parents and while the diagnosed children will hopefully be well supported in schools etc. in my experience the parents are often left adrift to cope alone.

Parenting can be one of the loneliest, most stressful jobs for some of us and I aim to make parents feel welcome to talk about this often-unspoken, shame based, difficult counter experience to the parenting joyful experience we often hear so much more about. Please don't struggle alone.

My first session

As I value the experience I've gained and the very expensive training undertaken over the years to become the psychotherapist and psychological wellbeing counsellor that I am, I unfortunately don't offer any free consultations.

The first session is a full fee assessment appointment to see if your counselling expectations meet my therapeutic skill set. As I don't want to waste your time or money, this works well to ensure we both can and want to work together going forwards into the counselling relationship.

I have a fixed fee for all of my appointments whether they are assessment/one-off, online or face-to-face. However, if things are financially difficult then please discuss this with me as I am willing to negotiate a fee that hopefully can suit us both.

If there are mobility difficulties, then please know that both of the locations I work from have lifts to my counselling offices.
