About me and my therapy practice
I offer a warm, person-centred space, with an interest in existential ideas - the questions of meaning, change, and how we make sense of the life we're living, particularly at times of transition or loss.
I've worked closely with older adults navigating retirement, bereavement, ill health, and shifting family roles, alongside adults of any age facing anxiety, relationship difficulties, or a sense of feeling stuck. I don't believe there's a fixed way life is "supposed" to look - my role is to walk alongside you as you find what matters to you, at whatever stage of life you're in.
My approach is gentle rather than directive. You won't be given answers or told what to think; instead, we'll explore what's true for you, at your own pace, in a space that's unhurried and non-judgemental.
Taking the first step to seek support might feel daunting; I can offer a calm, respectful space where you can explore what is happening for you at your own pace.
I am a ÌÇÐĹÙÍø-registered counsellor with several years of experience, with a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling and Coaching. I have worked within charitable settings, supporting adults with a wide and diverse range of needs, including anxiety, family and relationship difficulties, bereavement and loss, the impact of historic childhood abuse, as well as other emotional and life challenges.
I work with adults and can offer sessions both face to face and online.
Practice description
My work is person-centred at its core - I believe you are the expert on your own life, and that real change happens in a relationship built on trust, honesty and unconditional acceptance, not advice or direction.
Alongside this, I draw on existential ideas where they feel relevant: questions of meaning, choice, mortality, freedom and how we relate to change. There's also the option of drawing on coaching approaches where this feels helpful and appropriate. For some clients, alongside exploring feelings and experiences, it can be useful to focus on practical goals, decision-making, or finding ways forward. Any coaching elements are introduced collaboratively and only when they support your therapeutic aims.
Alongside my professional training, I bring a wealth of life experience to the therapeutic relationship. I understand that life’s challenges are often shaped by complex personal histories, responsibilities, and transitions. Many clients value working with a therapist who can offer both professional skill and a thoughtful, grounded perspective.
My therapeutic style is warm, supportive and collaborative, helping you feel heard, understood, and not judged or rushed. Together, we can progress towards greater clarity, self-understanding, and choices that feel right for you.
My first session
Our first session is a chance to get to know one another and to see whether this feels like the right fit. There's no obligation to continue afterwards.
I'll ask about what's brought you to counselling now, and a little about your life and circumstances but there's no pressure to have it all worked out. We'll also cover the practicalities: how sessions work, confidentiality, and any questions you have about me or the way I work.
Many people feel some nerves before a first session — that's completely normal, and we can go at whatever pace feels comfortable
