About me and my therapy practice

My name is Lisa, and I am an accredited Integrative Psychotherapist and registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (ÌÇÐĹÙÍø). I have extensive experience working with adults, adolescents, parents, young children, and Looked After Children.

Meeting you where you are, with care, curiosity, and an understanding that both mind and body hold important parts of your story. I offer a warm, collaborative space where you can explore your experiences at your own pace, deepen your understanding of yourself, and work towards meaningful and lasting change.

Much of my work has focused on supporting people who have experienced complex trauma, adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), and transgenerational patterns. Alongside this, I have experience working with ADHD, autism, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, OCD, personality disorders, substance misuse, somatic symptoms, physical health conditions, issues relating to gender and sexuality, self-esteem, and ethnocultural identity.

I am a culturally aware practitioner who works integratively, drawing on psychodynamic understanding alongside somatic approaches and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). My work recognises the importance of both mind and body in understanding emotional wellbeing and supporting lasting change.

If you are considering therapy, I welcome the opportunity to speak with you and explore how we might work together.

Practice description

I offer a safe, confidential, and supportive space for adults, young people, and families.

People come to therapy for many different reasons. I work with a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, bereavement, relationship difficulties, divorce, childhood trauma, transgenerational trauma, and experiences that may be impacting emotional wellbeing and daily life.

A key part of my practice is the integration of somatic approaches, recognising that our experiences are held not only in our thoughts and emotions, but also within the body and nervous system.

Alongside talking therapy, I may incorporate simple somatic tools to help you better understand and regulate your nervous system. This can include breathing techniques, body awareness, grounding practices, and other approaches tailored to your individual needs.

Drawing on insights from polyvagal theory, somatic work can help us understand how the body responds to stress, overwhelm, and past experiences. Many clients find these practical tools helpful both within sessions and in everyday life, supporting greater self-awareness, resilience, and emotional regulation.

Meeting you where you are, with care and curiosity, I aim to create a space where both mind and body can be heard and understood.

My first session

The first session is an opportunity to meet.

We can begin to understand what brought you to counselling, discuss how the process works, answer any questions you may have and see if we are a good fit for each other.

After the consultation, if we decide to work together, each session is 50 minutes long & will be held remotely or in person. When somatic tools are introduced,  sessions may be extend up to 70 minutes; this will always be discussed and agreed in advanced.

In the first full session we will discuss the Therapeutic contract and we will begin to explore your story, your experiences and relationships and how you see the world.
