About me and my therapy practice
I'm Mark he/they . I'm a qualified counsellor with experience of working with a diverse range of clients, to help them work through difficulties and challenges in their lives.
Perhaps you are experiencing challenges in some of the following areas -
- relationships to others;
- partners, friends, family or colleagues;
- sexuality, gender identity;
- ADHD or autism;
- anxiety;
- grief or loss;
- depression
I can help by providing a space that is gentle, containing, and without judgement, so that you can feel safe enough to explore at your own pace. My philosophy is to help you to become more empowered so that you can be more confident in yourself and therefore you can get so much more out of life. Gradually, you can feel more in charge of your own life and less bound by anxieties and others' opinions or judgements.
I am qualified with a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, and have practised since 2019 both privately and within organisations. My main training is in relational counselling - Petruska Clarkson's 5 relationship model - which primarily involves building a trusting "working alliance", before taking a person-centred approach for the main part. We may explore unconscious processes later on, especially around transference (where we can be unconsciously reminded of someone else from our past), and also attachment styles.
Practice description
After you get in touch, I would offer you a 20-30 minute consultation in person, by phone or on Zoom. This is an opportunity for you to tell me what you are experiencing and what you might like to gain from counselling. It will also allow me to decide on how and if I could help. Following this, we would then go on to arrange regular usually weekly sessions, reviewing how they are going regularly.
Sessions are 50 minutes long, and whilst I’d recommend that these take place weekly, I appreciate that you might want more flexibility.
I am currently taking new clients online only.
I'm also ÌÇÐĹÙÍø registered 379659 and I have private and public indemnity insurance through Howdens.
My first session
I offer an initial consultation of up to 30mins, £25. This will allow you to talk through some of your initial reasons for seeking counselling, and perhaps also what you might like to gain. It'll also give you a sense of what it will be like to work with me, and for me to tell you how I would be able to help.
If you decide to take up sessions, then I would usually suggest having 5 or 6 sessions before reviewing how they are going for you, and decide on direction and next steps.
