About me and my therapy practice

I am a ÌÇÐĹÙÍø-accredited, integratively trained counsellor working from a person-centred foundation. I offer a warm, supportive, non-judgemental space where you can explore what is important to you in your own time and at your own pace. I also work in a trauma-informed way drawing on CBT techniques where helpful, adapting my approach to your individual needs.

Much of my experience lies in supporting people with relationship difficulties and those affected by domestic abuse, sexual assault and rape as well as working in the NHS with patients who have undergone life changing medical procedures.

Relationships can be difficult to navigate, particularly when you feel confused, unhappy or uncertain about what you want. You may be questioning whether your relationship is right for you. There may have been infidelity or you may be trying to work through ongoing difficulties or come to terms with a relationship ending. Alternatively, you may wish to rebuild your relationship and need support to find a way towards a happier healthier partnership.

I have extensive experience supporting clients through relationship difficulties, separation, divorce and family breakdown. I work with several specialist charities supporting people who are experiencing or have previously experienced domestic abuse, sexual assault or rape. This includes supporting clients affected by historic childhood abuse. I am qualified to provide pre trial therapy.

My trauma-informed approach recognises how difficult or abusive experiences can continue to affect your emotions, relationships, confidence and sense of safety. Where appropriate, I use CBT techniques to help you recognise unhelpful patterns in your thoughts, feelings and behaviours. We may also explore boundaries, relationship patterns, coping strategies and practical ways to manage anxiety, flashbacks or overwhelming emotions. I will always adapt the way we work to suit you rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach.

Practice description

Counselling offers an opportunity to explore your feelings and develop a clearer understanding of your needs, choices and boundaries. Whether you are hoping to improve your relationship, deciding whether to stay or leave or adjusting to its ending, I can support you in working through these difficult and often conflicting emotions. If you have experienced abuse or trauma, I can help you process what has happened, understand its effects and begin rebuilding your confidence and sense of self.

I also work within the NHS supporting amputees and people adjusting to life-changing medical conditions. I have specialist experience of the emotional effects of limb loss, including changes in identity, body image, confidence, relationships and everyday life. My person-centred and trauma-informed approach allows me to support each person through the emotional and practical challenges of adapting to significant change.

My first session

During our first session, we will complete a full assessment to help me understand what has brought you to counselling and how things are affecting you. We will discuss what you would like to achieve and agree some initial goals for our work together. This is also an opportunity for you to ask questions, talk through any concerns and decide whether you feel comfortable working with me. Everything will be approached sensitively and at your own pace.
