About me and my therapy practice

Sometimes we find ourselves stuck in life - striving to move forward, but unable to move past the memories and emotions that are holding us back. At times like this, we can become overwhelmed and begin to feel hopeless. Perhaps you feel like you are failing when you compare yourself to others. Maybe you’ve had enough of feeling stuck and want to find a way out? If this sounds familiar, I would like to work with you. Whether you are seeking individual or relationship counselling, you will have the opportunity to gain perspective on your circumstances and consider how you would like to move forward in life.

When working with individuals, I listen carefully to your experiences and ask questions that will help you identify themes and patterns in your life. I also pay careful attention to the relationship between you and I as this can offer us insight into your relationships outside of our sessions, both in the past and the present day.

When working with couples and groups, I pay attention to the relationship while noticing any relational, intimacy and communication difficulties that may arise. Relationship counselling includes any romantic consensual combination of individuals whether married, in a long-term partnership, open relationship, throuple or anything else. Relationship counselling is also for those looking to amicably separate or divorce, also know as conscious uncoupling. All relationship types are welcomed and affirmed.

Practice description

By offering a collaborative and unique approach to each of my clients, I work with your expectations and desired outcomes in therapy. Each session, I provide a contained space where your pain and struggles can be heard and felt, while noticing and highlighting themes that emerge as the therapeutic work progresses.

My approach to therapy is less problem-focused and more exploratory; allowing space for uncovered themes and unconscious experiences to be worked through. For this reason, it is preferable to work longer-term (six months or more) with a commitment to meet at least once per week. I offer a more focused and time-limited arrangement for relationship therapy, which equips individuals with the skills to work through difficulties in their relationships.

I have experience working with a wide range of issues, which specifically include (but are not limited to) anxiety, depression, loneliness, bereavement, relationship difficulties, emotional abuse, sexual problems and sexual abuse. As a Psychosexual Therapist, I have an enhanced awareness of sexual and relational difficulties, including Gender, Sexual and Relationship Diversity (GSRD) issues.

I understand that finding the right counsellor is very important and the process of therapy requires courage and commitment. Therefore, I offer a free 15-minute phone call where you can give me a brief overview of your situation and ask any questions you may have. From there, we can book an initial session to discuss your needs further.

About me and my therapy practice

Supervision offers a space to slow down and think carefully about the work. Together we can explore what is happening in the therapeutic relationship, consider recurring patterns, and reflect on the wider context in which therapist and client are meeting.

My approach to supervision is relational and psychodynamic. I am interested not only in what clients bring, but also in how we experience the work as therapists. I believe supervision is most valuable when it provides both support and challenge, creating space for uncertainty, curiosity, and new perspectives. My aim is not simply to provide answers, but to help supervisees develop their own clinical thinking and professional confidence.

I currently supervise trainee and qualified therapists working within charitable organisations and private practice. Alongside supervision, I work in private practice with individuals and couples, offering longer-term relational therapy and psychosexual therapy. My experience includes work with individuals and couples navigating questions of relationship, identity, sexuality, faith, meaning, and belonging.

Although my core orientation is relational and psychodynamic, I work with therapists from a range of theoretical backgrounds. I seek to adapt supervision to the needs, experience, and way of working of each supervisee.

Supervision can provide space to explore clinical dilemmas, ethical questions, safeguarding concerns, professional development, private practice issues, and the personal impact of therapeutic work. I welcome both trainee and qualified therapists.

I have a particular interest in work relating to faith, spirituality, religious experience, and religious harm.

I hold a degree in Theology and Counselling, a Diploma in Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy, am a ÌÇÐĹÙÍø Accredited Therapist, and have completed training in psychodynamic supervision with the Society of Analytical Psychology.
