About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I’m Richard, a psychotherapist specialising in working with men, based in London Bridge, Chancery Lane, and online. I currently have availability for new clients.
Many of the men I see are managing work pressure, relationships, sex and intimacy, dating stress, or questions about direction and purpose.
You might ask yourself:
- Why don't I feel good enough?
- Why don't I feel happy?
- Is my job making me depressed?
- How do I communicate better with my partner?
- Why am I single?
- How do I know if my sex life is normal?
- Is this all there is?
You don't always need a 'big' reason for therapy. I can help with self-esteem, anxiety, feeling unlovable, lonely or stuck. I can help you challenge limiting self-beliefs, and find useful ways through your current stress.
Before retraining as a psychotherapist at The Minster Centre (one of the UK’s leading psychotherapy training centres), I spent 20 years working in TV production, photojournalism, and corporate and communications environments.
I volunteered with Terrence Higgins Trust, and Stonewall, and was a trustee at London Friend.
Getting started:
Email to schedule a free, no obligation chat to discuss what's brought you to therapy and what you hope to achieve. It’s a good opportunity to ask me any questions about how I work.
Practice description
My focus is on improving the lives of men. I work practically to help you improve awareness, communication, self-esteem, reduce stress, navigate relationships and family dynamics, manage loneliness, and build a clearer direction in life.
Sharing personal experiences and feelings might feel uncomfortable at first, but I work to create a relaxed, safe, even enjoyable space. I can answer any questions you might have in our introductory chat.
My integrative, practical, tailored approach draws from several therapeutic models —including psychodynamic, relational, and CBT. I am a psycho-sexually informed psychotherapist having trained at CICS (Contemporary Institute of Clinical Sexology). We can discuss any sexual concerns, including unreliable erections, premature ejaculation, low desire, shame, opening up a relationship, or exploring your sexuality.
Feeling comfortable with your therapist is key, which is why I focus on creating a non-judgmental, relaxed, confidential space where you can feel heard and supported. People often stay with me long-term, developing a trusting relationship. Many also return during life transitions, seeking further guidance from someone who already knows them well.
I’m based in SE1 (close to London Bridge, Southwark, and Waterloo), and EC4A (close to Chancery Lane, Holborn, Blackfriars, City Thameslink, and Farringdon). I also work online, providing flexibility for people based across the UK or internationally.
Checking a therapist has professional memberships is important because it indicates they have rigorous training, adhere to ethical standards, and are committed to ongoing professional development and supervision to work safely and effectively. I'm a member of both the ÌÇÐĹÙÍø and UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy).
Accessibility:
My practice in SE1 is fully accessible. Unfortunately the Grade 2 listed 17th Century building in Chancery Lane is not.
My first session
I offer a free, online 30 minute chat where we can talk about what you hope to achieve from therapy.
I’ll explain how sessions are structured and what you can expect. This first chat can help you feel more at ease and clearer about starting therapy.
We’ll then agree a regular time to meet — either in person or online — for a weekly 50-minute session.
Drop me a line to arrange a free chat. I’ll reply promptly, and we can schedule a time that suits you.
