About me and my therapy practice
Start your journey here.
About Me
My name is Nina Brennan, a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (ÌÇÐĹÙÍø). I am dedicated to fostering a secure, ethical, and compassionate environment wherein individuals can explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences devoid of judgment.
In conjunction with my counselling practice, I have undertaken specialized training in trauma-informed care and domestic abuse. This training equips me with an understanding of the profound effects trauma and abuse can have on the mind, body, emotions, and interpersonal relationships. My practice prioritizes your safety, autonomy, collaboration, and empowerment. Rather than posing the question "What is wrong with you?", I endeavor to comprehend "What has transpired in your life?" and how your experiences may have influenced the challenges you encounter today.
I hold the conviction that each individual's narrative is unique. Whether you are grappling with anxiety, depression, grief, relationship challenges, low self-esteem, or the repercussions of past trauma, I will collaborate with you at a pace that is both comfortable and respectful.
My approach is characterized by warmth, empathy, and a person-centered philosophy. I aim to establish a trusting therapeutic alliance where you feel acknowledged, valued, and supported as you progress towards healing, resilience, and enduring change.
Engaging in therapy represents one of the most courageous steps you can take. Regardless of the circumstances that have led you here, you need not navigate this journey alone. It would be my privilege to assist you on your path.

Practice description
- My Approach
I work as a Solution-Focused Integrative Counsellor, which means I tailor therapy to meet your individual needs rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach.
Being integrative means I draw on a range of evidence-based counselling approaches, selecting the techniques and therapeutic methods that best support you and your goals. Together, we'll explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences in a way that feels safe, supportive, and meaningful.
My work is also Solution-Focused, which means that while we acknowledge and understand the challenges you're facing, we also spend time identifying your strengths, building on what's already working, and helping you move towards the future you want. Therapy isn't about rushing past difficult experiences; it's about helping you find practical ways to create healthy, helpful change at a pace that feels right for you.
As a ÌÇÐĹÙÍø-registered counsellor with specialist training in Trauma-Informed practice, I understand that past experiences can shape how we think, feel, and relate to others. I work with compassion and curiosity, creating a safe, collaborative space where you feel heard, respected, and empowered throughout your therapeutic journey.
Whether you're experiencing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, grief, or the effects of trauma, we will work together to help you gain greater understanding, develop resilience, and move towards lasting change.
Anger management, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, grief, low self-esteem. avoidance, attachment related difficulties, trauma, PTSD, domestic abuse, stress, bullying, communication problems.
My first session
During our first session, I will complete an assessment and we will discuss the way we will be working together. This is also an opportunity for you to ask me any questions you may have about either my role as a counsellor and the therapeutic approaches we will be using.
We will discuss your concerns and difficulties and also whether you have an outcome you would like to focus on. This isn't always apparent until further sessions.
I am committed to developing a deep understanding of my clients past experiences and the influences they may have on present circumstances and relationships.
