Availability

Current availability: OPEN TO NEW CLIENTS.

I am currently working on a fortnightly basis with face-to-face and video call sessions. I currently have availability for new clients at 1pm, 2.30 pm and 4pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays. One-off Therapeutic Tarot sessions may be available outside of these times - contact me to check current availability.

I currently have space for two new email counselling clients - this offers you complete flexibility with session time and can be perfect if you work changing shifts or have difficulty arranging e.g. childcare to attend face-to-face or videocall sessions. It's also a great option if you don't want to be seen or heard, prefer to express yourself in writing rather than talking, or have an issue to discuss which would be difficult to speak about face-to-face.

About me and my therapy practice

I help people going through periods of change and uncertainty reconnect with who they are and what they want from life. I offer: therapeutic tarot; creative/traditional talking therapy; email counselling; meditation tutoring.

Do you feel uncertain about who you are and what you want from life? Perhaps this is a result of a 鈥渕ilestone鈥 birthday, retirement, redundancy or bereavement. Are you scared of sleepwalking through life - do you want to start living, not just existing? Does not feeling good enough hold you back? Do you make one small mistake and suddenly that inner critical voice spirals out of control, saying you are useless or worthless?

I help people who are going through periods of uncertainty to figure out who they are and what they want, so they can create a fulfilling life. I help people to stop giving themselves such a hard time and feel comfortable in their own skin. I help people to accept themselves and feel more confident. I also help people struggling with bereavement and depression.

In addition to traditional therapy and therapy by email, I also offer therapeutic tarot and tutoring in meditation, which can be one-off sessions or 2-4 sessions.

Therapeutic tarot is not a traditional tarot reading: it is not about predicting the future or "fortune telling".

In a therapeutic tarot session, we use the cards to explore an area of your life or a current dilemma you have, working together to understand what you see and how you respond to the images on the cards.

Tarot cards are works of art, rich with symbolism and archetypes. It is believed that working with images can help to access what is just beneath the surface of your consciousness, so working in this way can result in inspiration and clarity about how you really feel or what you really want.

Practice description

It can be daunting or even scary to start therapy, especially if you have never done it before. My clients find me warm, open and friendly, easy to talk to and gentle in my approach. I provide a safe, confidential space for you to open up, take the time to explore who you are and what you want from life. I am LGBTQIA+ friendly, child-free positive, and welcome diversity and difference. I work one-to-one with adults (I do not work with young people, families or couples) either in-person in Sunderland city centre, online via video call, or by email exchange.

Therapy changed my life and now I want to help you to change yours 鈥 because I鈥檝e been where you are, struggling to feel good enough, plagued by a critical voice that gave me such a hard time. Several times through my life I have questioned who I am and what I want out of life. I鈥檝e learned to manage repeated episodes of anxiety, depression and bereavement, and have a toolkit of useful techniques from these experiences. As a result of my experiences, I became a qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor so I could help others. I am passionate about helping people to stop just existing and start really living. You ARE good enough. Life doesn鈥檛 have to be perfect to be great 鈥 and neither do you.

鈥淭he mystery of human existence lies not in just staying alive, but in finding something to live for.鈥 Fyodor Dostoyevsky.

My first session

I offer a free half hour initial chat (ideally by video call, though phone or email are also options 鈥 whatever you are most comfortable with) to help us to work out if we would be a good fit working together.

Sessions normally last one full hour and cost 拢55. A small number of concessionary places may be available and I am open to arranging sessions of longer or shorter length. Payment is required at least 24 hours in advance of sessions, by bank transfer, in order to secure your appointment. 24 hours鈥 notice is required for cancellations otherwise the fee will still be payable.

My working hours are usually 1 - 6.30pm Tuesday to Thursday on a fortnightly basis (although I am open to weekly and morning appointments on request).

Contact

I would prefer initial contact to be by email, to arrange a time that is convenient for both of us for the initial discussion and how you would like this to take place (video call, phone or email).
