About me and my therapy practice

Hi there! I'm Ben - an accredited psychotherapist working online across the UK and in person from King's Lynn, Norfolk.

Many of the people I work with feel stuck in patterns they can see but struggle to change. They often experience anxiety, self-doubt, frustration, grief, relationship difficulties, addiction, or a persistent sense that they are repeating the same struggles despite their best efforts.

Sometimes these patterns show up in romantic relationships: struggling with trust, fear of commitment, emotional intimacy, conflict, or feeling disconnected from the people they care about most. Others notice similar patterns appearing across family relationships, friendships, work, or in the way they relate to themselves.

Many of my clients come to therapy carrying a lasting impact from earlier experiences. They may have grown up around addiction, conflict, criticism, unpredictability, loss, or relationships where their needs were not always understood or met. While these experiences often make sense of how we learned to cope, they can also leave us feeling stuck in our adulthood.

Alongside individual therapy, I also work with couples who are struggling with communication difficulties, emotional distance, recurring conflict, betrayal, grief, or major life transitions. My aim is not to decide who is right or wrong, but to help both partners better understand themselves, one another, and the patterns that keep them disconnected.

While I offer both short-term and long-term therapy, much of my work focuses on helping clients understand long-standing emotional and relational patterns rather than simply managing symptoms. Together, we'll explore not only what is happening in the present, but how your past experiences may continue to shape your thoughts, emotions, relationships, and sense of self.

Therapy is about developing a clearer understanding of yourself, greater freedom in your choices, and building relationships in which you can feel more secure, connected, and at ease.

Practice description

Trauma-informed practice integrating psychodynamic and Family Systems theory with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

"Cool! But what does that mean, exactly?"

I work from an integrative foundation - which means I draw from several therapeutic models in a way that’s structured, intentional, and tailored to you.

At the core of my work is a blend of:

  • Psychodynamic therapy, which helps us explore how your past relationships and unconscious patterns shape your present experience

  • Systemic and family-based approaches (especially Bowenian theory), which looks at how you function within your relationships and wider systems - not just in isolation

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which supports you in building strong coping mechanisms to help you self-emotionally regulate. ACT helps you live a more values-driven life, even in the presence of difficult thoughts and feelings

These aren’t stitched together randomly. They inform and balance each other in a way that respects both your emotional depth and your real-world challenges.

I work in a way that’s collaborative, steady, and trauma-informed, which means I’ll never push you to go faster or deeper than you’re ready for.

We’ll pay attention to what feels safe, what feels overwhelming, and how to move through things at your pace. We’re here to make sense of things together, in a space that respects your story, your nervous system, and your boundaries.

Therapy with me isn’t one-size-fits-all. It’s responsive, relational, and rooted in theory, but flexible enough to meet you where you are.

My first session

The first session will be a complimentaty 20-minute consultation. We’ll talk about what brings you here, what you’re hoping for, and what therapy could look like with me. No pressure to go deep straight away. We will go at your pace.
