About me and my therapy practice
I work as a pluralistic, relational couples counsellor, creating a balanced and supportive space where both partners feel heard and understood.
My approach is collaborative and transparent, with the relationship itself held as the client. I have a clear agreement that I do not hold individual secrets that relate to the couple’s work, as secrecy can undermine trust and place me in a conflicted position; if something is shared with me privately that affects the relationship, I will support the partner to bring it into the room.
The only exception to this is where there is risk of harm, such as domestic abuse or safeguarding concerns, in which case I have an ethical duty to prioritise safety.
My aim is to foster open communication, emotional safety, and a fair, grounded therapeutic process that supports the couple in moving forward together.
Practice description
In practice, you can expect me to be calm, steady, and attuned, offering gentle challenge where it’s helpful and supporting you both to slow down difficult or emotionally charged moments.
I pay close attention to the dynamics between you, helping you notice patterns, unmet needs, and the ways you each impact one another. I work at a pace that feels safe and manageable, guiding you toward clearer communication, deeper emotional understanding, and more intentional ways of relating.
My role is to hold the space with warmth and fairness, to help you stay connected even when conversations feel tough, and to support you in exploring new possibilities for how you move forward together.
My first session
In your first session, you can expect a gentle, structured beginning where we take time to understand what has brought you to counselling and what each of you hopes to gain from the process.
I will guide you through an initial exploration of your relationship dynamics, strengths, and current challenges, while also checking in about any immediate concerns or areas that feel particularly important to address.
We will go through the transparency agreement together so you both feel clear and safe about how I work, and I’ll invite you to ask questions or share anything that will help us build a strong foundation for the work ahead. The pace is steady and supportive, giving you space to settle in, feel heard, and begin shaping a shared direction for your therapy.
