About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I’m Sophie, an Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist offering private sessions via Zoom or telephone.
Whether you've been struggling for a while, or if an unexpected life event has hit you hard, taking the time to talk, process, and reflect can help you make sense of how you’re feeling, equipping you with the knowledge and tools to make changes and move forward.
When working with clients, I do not believe there is a ‘one size fits all’ approach. Having trained and practiced across different therapeutic models and techniques, I am able to facilitate a flexible approach that can be tailored to your individual needs and preferences. As well as working privately, I also have experience providing counselling for clients at The Priory Hospital, Talking Treatment, and Headstrong Counselling. I am a registered healthcare provider for Aviva, AXA, BUPA, and Vitality Health.
I hold a Master's Degree in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy and have worked with a variety of people from different walks of life. I have experience working with a wide-range of issues including: Anxiety, Depression, Low self-esteem, Low confidence, Perfectionism, Stress management, Grief & loss, Shame, Overwhelm, Loneliness, Abuse, Identity issues, Imposter syndrome, Relationship issues, Managing change, Managing conflict, Burnout, Life transitions, PTSD, Women’s issues, and Work-related issues.
I view a warm, holding, and collaborative therapeutic relationship as central to our work together, and provide a non-judgemental, engaged space for you to be heard. Together, we will work together to help you gain insight into what might be causing pain or feelings of being stuck, and move towards understanding and fulfilment.
Practice description
I am currently working online, via Zoom or phone. I offer both long-term and short-term therapy, depending on your needs. Sessions last 50-minutes and will be arranged for a time that suits you.
You can expect to find a collaborative and proactive partnership, someone who will explore and make sense of the problems you are struggling with.
Testimonials
'As someone new to therapy, Sophie curated the perfect environment for me to feel comfortable to talk and share. Her calming, understanding approach paired with her ability to provide clarity and insight into thoughts and emotions I myself couldn't understand has had a huge impact. She recalls so much detail, enabling her to look at things more broadly or more closely, which has personally been invaluable. Her style is natural, warm and anchoring. I never thought I would feel so comfortable to raise some of the things we spoke about. In short, she is first-class.' JP
'After almost exactly one year of working with Sophie, the shift in my sense of self feels equally as subtle as it does momentous. We have slowly painted colour back into the minutiae of everyday life, focussing on being present and fulfilled, as well as building on my own confidence to handle the normal highs and lows of adulthood.' KN
'I’m deeply grateful to Sophie, with whom I was able to focus on tackling my loneliness and feelings of isolation over the past 1+ year. Thanks to her I see significant improvements in my daily life, even now, 3 months since our last session. In the process we uncovered some topics which needed to come to light and I appreciated Sophie’s careful but firm approach, which never felt invasive, but was questioning enough to make me make the necessary connections.' HH
My first session
Seeking support can feel daunting, so I take great care in the initial session to explain the counselling process and get to know you, exploring your expectations and needs, ensuring that I am the right fit
I also offer a free 15-minute telephone consultation. Research shows that the relationship between therapist and client is integral to the healing process, so this call is really important to ensure you feel comfortable. We use this time to discuss your current challenges, what your therapeutic goals might be, and to answer any questions you might have.
Testimonials
'As someone who has previously had some negative experiences with therapy, I can say that Sophie is an exceptional therapist. She is warm, kind and wholly attentive ... She consistently created a safe environment where I felt able to be honest and open. When I started with Sophie, I was at one of the lowest points in my life and couldn't see a way forward but after spending a year with her, we slowly and steadily rebuilt confidence and colour back into my life. I was incredibly sad to end our sessions, which speaks of how wonderful she is, but I am so grateful for all the invaluable insights that I gained from her during the year we spent together.' BD
'I had a really positive experience attending sessions with Sophie. Over about 4 months I was able to discuss and come to terms with some difficult events from my past. More widely Sophie helped me develop a more holistic, resilient, and caring mindset to towards myself and any daily stressors I may face.' AV
'I've worked with Sophie for the past year to work through some old rubbish that was affecting my current relationship and career ... I've found Sophie approachable but didn't shy away from asking difficult questions. She recalled a lot of detail and was able to refer to it during our sessions ... it made the conversations feel organic and specific, rather than generic. In future, if I need to speak to someone, I will reach out to Sophie again.' CH
