About me and my therapy practice

Hello and welcome. My name is Debbie, and I am a fully qualified counsellor and psychotherapist with many years of experience working with adults and young people aged 16 and above.

Life can sometimes leave us feeling stuck, overwhelmed, anxious, or hopeless. You may be struggling with anxiety, anger, trauma, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, loss, depression, or suicidal thoughts. Whatever challenges you may be facing, I believe there is always hope for change, and together we can work towards finding a way through difficult times.

I offer a warm, empathic, and non-judgemental space where you can feel heard, supported, and understood. Seeking therapy can feel daunting, especially when life feels uncertain, but you do not need to have everything figured out before starting. I believe the therapeutic relationship is collaborative, and I will work alongside you at a pace that feels right for you.

I am an Integrative psychotherapist with a First Class BSc (Hons) degree in Humanistic and Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy, and I am an accredited member of the ÌÇÐĹÙÍø. My integrative approach allows me to draw from a range of therapeutic models and techniques to support your individual needs, as I believe that every person is unique and there is no single approach that fits everyone.

Alongside my private practice, I have experience working with a range of organisations and services, including social services and multi-agency teams. I work both face-to-face and online via Zoom. I am also currently training as a Clinical Supervisor as part of my ongoing professional development.

Together, we can gently explore your experiences, helping you to develop greater self-understanding, resilience, and the possibility of meaningful change.

Practice description

I believe supervision works best when it is built on trust, openness and genuine collaboration. My aim is to create a supportive, reflective space where you feel able to bring all aspects of your work – including successes, uncertainties, ethical dilemmas and the moments that feel more challenging.

I see supervision as more than discussing client work; it is an opportunity to develop your clinical thinking, deepen your self-awareness and strengthen your confidence as a practitioner. Together we can explore what is happening within the therapeutic relationship, consider different perspectives, and reflect on how your own experiences, beliefs and responses may influence your work.

Whether you are a trainee therapist finding your feet or an experienced practitioner looking for a reflective space, I aim to tailor supervision to your individual needs. I value curiosity over judgement and believe that feeling safe enough to think openly is essential for both personal and professional growth.

Alongside supporting your clinical work, we can also explore practical aspects of practice such as managing risk, maintaining ethical practice, building confidence, working with difference and diversity, developing your private practice, and looking after your own wellbeing as a therapist.

As a trainee Clinical Supervisor, my supervision practice is supported by an experienced Supervisor of Supervision, ensuring that you receive a high standard of ethical and reflective supervision throughout my training.

Above all, I hope you will experience supervision with me as a warm, respectful and collaborative partnership where you feel heard, encouraged and appropriately challenged, leaving each session with greater clarity, confidence and insight.

My first session

I offer a free introductory session, giving us the opportunity to meet and explore whether we feel we would work well together. Choosing a supervisor is an important decision, and it is essential that you feel comfortable, supported and able to build a trusting supervisory relationship.

During our initial meeting, we can talk about your current practice, your experience, what you are looking for from supervision, and any expectations or questions you may have. I'll also explain how I work, my approach to supervision, what you can expect from our sessions and whether I am able to offer your supervision needs.

This introductory session is a chance for both of us to consider whether we are the right fit. There is no obligation to continue, and I encourage you to choose a supervisor with whom you feel you can be open, honest and authentically yourself, as this forms the foundation of effective supervision.

If we decide to work together, we can then discuss a supervision contract and agree a way of working that best supports your professional development and the needs of your practice.
