About me and my therapy practice
Salaam, I’m Sonia, a Black female therapist and I offer counselling and coaching online for women only.
I provide a safe, supportive space where you can explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences without judgment. My approach is flexible and tailored to you, drawing on different traditional and creative therapeutic methods to support your healing, growth, and self-understanding.
I work from a person-centred approach which includes looking existentially at how you see yourself in your life and as a woman. We can incorporate cognitive behavioural and solution focused work to explore your thinking and behaviour patterns and we might also work creatively with drawing, colour, texture and shape. We might also explore what role spirituality and connection plays in your life.
I believe that therapy is a process of coming to understand yourself better, to see yourself more clearly and to support you to make informed choices about how you live your life.
We will work together to decide what works best for you.
Practice description
I work with clients in an open-ended way. Most of my clients come for mid-long term therapy so we have the time and space to go beneath the surface and find out who you are and what might be holding you back from your full potential.
In our early sessions we will talk together about what is bothering you and what you hope to learn and change through therapy. We will agree areas to focus on and discuss different approaches to exploring these.
We’ll work at your pace to help you feel more grounded, clear, and emotionally strong.
I recommend weekly sessions, especially at the start of therapy but these can be spaced out if that works better.
My first session
We begin with a free 15-minute call to see if we’re the right fit and to answer any questions you may have.
If you decide to continue, we’ll arrange your first session and agree on a way of working that suits you. Sessions are gentle, collaborative, and focused on what you need.
We’ll regularly review your progress and adjust as needed, so therapy continues to support you in the best way possible.
