About me and my therapy practice
It takes tremendous strength and courage to reach out and finally say - something's not working. It can be easy to put aside our doubts, worries, traumas and behaviours, and let our busy lives take the lead.
Yet as you know, these feelings don't just disappear, and one day something builds up within us that makes us say - 'ENOUGH, I need to deal with this.'
Naturally, our first step is to reach out to friends, family, or colleagues, and although we respect their opinions, do we truly allow ourselves to be vulnerable within these relationships?
Are we completely honest about our feelings, or do we often water things down as to not worry or upset those we love? More importantly, how often do we sense that they’ve really listened or understood us?
That’s where a counsellor like myself can help. Therapy creates a safe space where you can talk openly and honestly about you, and what you need, without worrying about judgement or damage to a relationship.
Now, you may be thinking - how can just talking bring about change?
And my response would be - when was the last time you felt truly heard?
Yet in the context of our professional relationship, I will hear you, as you will too, allowing you to slowly make sense of your difficulties.
And that genuinely is my philosophy of therapy and why I'm so passionate about supporting others; because when we feel truly heard and understood, we have the ability to survive, renew and grow.
About Me:
I'm a ÌÇÐĹÙÍø Accredited Counsellor/Psychotherapist. My core model is Person-Centred Therapy, which remains at the heart of my work, but I recognise we are all unique, so I work using an integrative approach.
I also specialise in supporting clients affected by trauma, using a range of approaches including EMDR Therapy.
My work is not limited to trauma; I support clients with a range of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, burnout, relationship and attachment difficulties, boundaries, OCD, grief, addiction, low self-worth and life changes.
Practice description
My Private Practice is based in Rainham, Kent, offering a calm, supportive and confidential space for face-to-face therapy sessions. I also offer online therapy sessions for clients who are unable to attend in person or who need greater flexibility.
Within my practice, I offer a range of therapeutic approaches including Individual Therapy, Couples and Relationship Therapy, EMDR Therapy, Single Session Therapy and Walk and Talk Therapy. Each approach provides a different way of working, depending on your needs and what feels most helpful for you.
EMDR Therapy (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is a trauma-informed therapy that can help process distressing memories, and experiences that continue to impact your everyday life. It can also be helpful for anxiety, phobias and experiences that feel unresolved.
Couples and Relationship Therapy supports couples experiencing relationship difficulties, communication challenges or feeling disconnected. Using an Imago-informed approach, I support couples to explore relationship patterns, develop greater understanding and rebuild connection.
Single Session Therapy is a focused, one-off 75-minute session to explore a particular difficulty, situation or pattern. Together, we will look at what is happening, what may be contributing to it, and develop a deeper understanding of your experience.
Walk and Talk Therapy takes place walking side by side along thoughtfully chosen routes in the open countryside. Walking alongside each other can create a different therapeutic space, allowing conversations to unfold naturally while connecting with nature.
In addition to private clients, I also accept Bupa, AXA, Vitality, Aviva, Allianz and WPA.
My first session
I understand you’ll have many questions racing through your mind at this stage; will I like them, will they like me, will I feel comfortable, will they judge me, what if...
So, let me put your mind at rest; I offer a free 15-minute ‘coming together’ session, which gives you the time to ask as many questions as you like and decide if I’m the right person for you.
It also allows me time to explore your situation and understand your hopes and expectations.
