About me and my therapy practice
I work with adults and young people, offering a supportive, confidential space to explore the root causes of difficult feelings and behavioural patterns. Often, pain in the present and negative feelings about yourself have roots in early experiences and relationships. Day to day, these early experiences have an ongoing impact on you.
Psychodynamic therapy can help you to understand yourself better, and move beyond habitual ways of thinking. Whether you’re feeling stuck, confused, lacking in self-esteem, under pressure or overwhelmed, psychodynamic counselling and psychotherapy can give you insight, providing a non-judgemental space to think.
I believe our early attachments shape our experience of ourselves, the world and our relationships, and that as a result, we think, behave and feel in ways that sometimes work against us. In therapy, we can become more aware of this and find freer, healthier ways of being. Effective therapy is about building a relationship based on trust and collaboration. I'm an active and inquisitive therapist, and together we'll pay attention to anxiety and feelings as they come up in the session. My approach is informed by psychoanalytic thinking and ISTDP, an attachment and affect-based model with a strong evidence base.
With young people, I offer creative, expressive and play therapy using a range of materials including sand play, art and movement. I work with parents alongside my therapy with the young person where appropriate.
Practice description
I’m a ÌÇÐĹÙÍø registered psychodynamic counsellor and a BPC (British Psychoanalytic Council) Kitemarked practitioner (CCYP). I work one-on-one in central Bath and over Zoom. I'm currently in year one of a three year training in ISTDP, a dynamic psychotherapy with an attachment and affect-based focus.
I am fully qualified and provide a safe, confidential and reliable service.
I work with all kinds of psychological and relationship difficulties, from depression and anxiety to low self-esteem and adverse childhood experiences. Whatever you are struggling with, we can work together to make sense of your thoughts and feelings and explore how you might move forward.
My first session
The first session is a chance to tell me about yourself and what you are seeking help with. It is a chance for you to find out if I will be a good fit for you, and find out about the process.
If we both feel we can work together, we will book a regular weekly session time.
