About me and my therapy practice
My name is Sarah Louise (BA Hons) MÌÇÐĹÙÍø (Accred), MACC (Accred), Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. I am an experienced integrative counsellor, working with both individuals and therapy groups.
With person-centred theory at the heart of my practice, I believe that feeling safe, accepted, and understood within the therapeutic relationship creates the conditions for meaningful and lasting change. I also draw on psychodynamic and other therapeutic approaches, tailoring my work to each person's unique needs and experiences.
I know from my own experience of being in therapy that reaching out for support can take courage. Having experienced the benefits of therapy personally, I hold a genuine hope that change is possible, even when life feels overwhelming or uncertain. This understanding deepens my empathy and informs the way I work with clients.
My aim is to come alongside you, offering compassionate, non-judgemental support as we explore whatever has brought you to counselling. Together, we can work at a pace that feels right for you, helping you to gain insight, draw on your strengths, and find a way forward that feels meaningful and authentic.
Practice description
I offer a warm, welcoming, and accepting space where you can explore what is happening in your life, how you feel about yourself and others, and what you might want to change. Together, we can work through a wide range of challenges, including anxiety, low self-esteem, depression, stress, codependency, trauma, bereavement, and relationship difficulties.
I also have specialist experience in addiction, as well as in supporting family members affected by a loved one's addiction. I understand how complex and painful this experience can be, and I provide a space where you can begin to find clarity, strength, and hope.
The quality of the therapeutic relationship I build with each client is central to my work. My aim is to offer empathy, honesty, and understanding, helping you to feel seen, valued, and supported throughout your journey of self-discovery and personal growth.
If you'd like to find out more or ask any questions about the way I work, I offer a free 15–20 minute consultation by phone or Zoom. This is an opportunity to see whether counselling feels right for you, with no obligation to continue.
I am a registered and accredited member of both the ÌÇÐĹÙÍø (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and the ACC (Association of Christian Counsellors), and I adhere to their ethical frameworks to ensure safe and professional practice.
My first session
In our initial Zoom or telephone call, I'll take a few moments to introduce myself and invite you to share what has brought you to therapy. This is an opportunity for you to ask any questions, explore what you hope to gain from counselling, and get a sense of whether working together feels right for you. I'll also explain how I work and what you can expect from the counselling process.
Please don't hesitate to get in touch by phone or email if you'd like to arrange this initial conversation. If I'm unavailable when you contact me, you're welcome to leave a message, and I'll aim to return your call within 24 hours.
