Practice description
Beginning counselling can feel daunting, especially if you’re already feeling overwhelmed. My aim is to make the process as gentle and supportive as possible, to offer a calm, steady and compassionate space where you can breathe, feel heard and begin to make sense of things.
I work in a collaborative, compassionate and respectful way. I see therapy as a shared process where safety and understanding develop through our relationship, staying curious about your experiences and what feels most meaningful to you.
My approach is trauma-informed and influenced by neuroscience and psychoeducation, which means I sometimes share insights into how our minds and bodies respond to stress or threat. Understanding your natural survival responses can normalise, bring relief, and help you respond to yourself with greater compassion.
Sessions can be reflective and exploratory and at times be more focused or challenging when it supports growth and awareness. Therapy with me is not about rushing or fixing, but about creating space for understanding and change at a pace that feels manageable and safe.
Grief work often unfolds gently over time, evolving as life continues to change. Counselling with me is not about “letting go,†but about finding ways to live alongside your loss, to honour your connection, make sense of the complex emotions that come with grief, rediscovering meaning and purpose in a life that has changed.
In relationship counselling, we look at the patterns that shape how you relate whether in a couple or individually and explore new ways of communicating, connecting and understanding yourself and others.
However we work together, my hope is that therapy offers a space where compassion and curiosity help understanding grow, and where you can reconnect with yourself and what matters most.
If this sounds like the kind of space you are looking for, I offer a free 15-minute introductory call to see how it feels to talk together.
My first session
Beginning therapy can feel like a big step, so my aim is to make your first session feel calm, welcoming and unhurried. It is an opportunity for us to get to know each other, explore what’s brought you here, and start to think together about what might be most helpful.
For individual counselling sessions last 50 minutes or I offer extended sessions of 70 minutes or 1 hour and 20 minutes. We’ll talk about what feels most important for you right now perhaps a specific situation, recurring feelings, or a sense of wanting change or understanding. I’ll explain how I work, including confidentiality, boundaries, and what therapy might look like moving forward.
For couples counselling a first session is 90 minutes. This allows time for both partners to share their perspectives, outline what has brought you to counselling, and begin identifying patterns and hopes for the relationship.
If you are unsure whether couples counselling will be beneficial for your situation I offer a space to explore this please do contact me for a free introductory call to find out more.
You’re welcome to ask questions at any point. There’s no expectation to share anything before you’re ready the first session is as much about you getting a sense of how I work as it is about me understanding your needs.

About me and my therapy practice
I am an integrative counsellor offering compassionate support to adults experiencing grief, bereavement, and loss, including bereavement counselling and grief support. I work with people who may feel overwhelmed, stuck, numb, or unsure how to live with the impact of a loss that has changed their world.
My approach is grounded in the belief that grief is not something to be fixed or rushed. Each person’s experience of loss is unique, shaped by their relationships, history, and the meaning of what has been lost. I offer a calm, supportive space where you can talk openly about your experience, at your own pace, without judgement or expectation.
Grief can take many forms alongside bereavement following the death of a loved one, I work with people experiencing baby loss, miscarriage, stillbirth, infertility, and anticipatory grief. I also support those living with grief linked to life-limiting illness, caring roles, identity changes, and major life transitions, as well as grief that feels complicated, delayed, or hard to explain.
I work in a relational and trauma-informed way, paying attention to how grief can affect emotions, the body, relationships, and a sense of identity or safety in the world. As a Certified Grief Educator, my work is informed by an understanding that there is no single right way to grieve.
You do not need to have the right words, or a clear goal for therapy. We can begin wherever you are.
Practice description
I work in a gentle, collaborative way, shaped around your individual experience of grief. Some people want space to talk and be heard, while others find it helpful to reflect more deeply on how loss is affecting their emotions, relationships, or sense of identity. We will work at a pace that feels manageable for you.
My approach is integrative, relational, and trauma-aware. This means I pay attention to how grief is experienced emotionally and physically, and how past experiences or relationships may influence how loss is felt in the present. I do not believe there is a single right way to grieve.
You are welcome to bring whatever feels most present for you — including feelings that may feel confusing, uncomfortable, or hard to put into words. Counselling is a space where your grief can be met with care, curiosity, and respect.
My first session
The first session is a space for your story to be met and heard. Many people come to counselling carrying experiences they have had to hold quietly or carefully for a long time. This session offers time and space to begin speaking about your loss in your own way, and at your own pace.
You do not need to have the right words, a clear timeline, or a particular focus. There may be pauses, uncertainty, or emotion — all of this is welcome. I will listen with care, without judgement or expectation, and without trying to move you on or make sense of things too quickly.
For many people, this first session is less about doing therapy and more about being accompanied as their grief is witnessed. From there, we can gently explore what support might be most helpful for you as we continue.
