About me and my therapy practice
Hello!
My name is Andrea - thank you for visiting my page.
There are times in our lives when we face situations or experiences which we struggle to deal with. While asking for help can be hard, it can also be transformative. Starting therapy can feel daunting, particularly if you have struggled to feel understood in the past so my aim is to create a therapeutic space where you feel safe enough to explore difficult experiences and develop new insights. My aim is to help you manage and overcome your challenges, and improve your mental and emotional well-being so you can reconnect with your daily life with increased positivity, compassion and authenticity.
Following a diverse career in law and property, my counselling journey began when I became a listening volunteer with the Samaritans in 2018. The seemingly simple act of listening and being present with someone in their time of need, stirred my desire to go further, and to understand how I could help more directly and in a meaningful way. I began my counselling training and haven't looked back. My experience has included counselling at a well known local mental health charity where I have supported adults of all ages with varied issues and difficulties, and more recently, counselling in primary and secondary schools where I have supported children with referrals from GPs, schools and parents. I also carried out research into hoarding behaviours and I am keen to continue to support those affected. I also have a particular interest in attachment and identity issues, as well as supporting those struggling with loss, including pet loss.
Practice description
My approach is rooted in empathy and understanding and as an integrative counsellor, I utilise techniques from various psychological and counselling modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Gestalt, Transaction Analysis, Positive Psychology and Person-Centered Counselling.
You can expect empathy, warmth, and a positive, non-judgmental attitude from me at all times. I work at your pace, ensuring no pressure, and always maintain honesty and transparency. Your journey with me will be one of genuine understanding and support.
My first session
Free 20 minute introductory phone call before any commitment is made.
To schedule a call or book an appointment, please email andrea@northwellbeing.co.uk with a brief outline of your availability and what brings you to therapy.
Sessions are priced at £50 for 50 minutes. Concessions are available - please ask. I know that counselling is a considerable financial investment into your mental health and it's important it feels right. That is why I offer a free 20 minute phone call before any commitment is made. This is designed as a 'get to know you' meeting, allowing us to explore if we are a good fit for working together.
All sessions are conducted either in person at a convenient location in central Gosforth, Newcastle, or online, via a secure platform such as Microsoft Teams or Zoom. Sessions usually take place weekly or fortnightly at mutually agreed times.
