About me and my therapy practice

Busy Minds Counselling 鈥 Perth, Scotland & Online Across the UK

Hello, I鈥檓 Katie, a registered counsellor offering a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space to explore whatever may be bringing you to therapy.

I work within a pluralistic framework, drawing from a range of therapeutic approaches to tailor our work to your individual needs. I believe there is no 鈥渙ne size fits all鈥 in counselling; our sessions are collaborative and responsive, shaped by your goals, preferences and pace.

As a neurodiverse counsellor, I practise in a neurodivergent-affirming way, recognising and valuing differences in how people think, process and experience the world. Therapy with me is not about fixing you, but about developing understanding, self-compassion and meaningful change.

I work with:

Adults

Children and young people

Trainee therapists

Areas of experience include:

ADHD, autism, complex trauma and PTSD, anxiety, depression, anger, bereavement, work-related stress and burnout, perimenopause and menopause, disabilities, cancer, and chronic pain or long-term health conditions.

Sessions are available in person in Perth, online across the UK, or by telephone.

I welcome enquiries and offer an initial consultation to explore whether working together feels like the right fit.

Practice description

I am a pluralistic counsellor, which means I draw from a range of therapeutic approaches to tailor our work to your individual needs. I believe that therapy is most effective when it is collaborative and responsive, rather than shaped by one fixed model. Together, we identify your goals, explore what feels helpful, and review our work as we progress.

My practice is grounded in creating a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences openly. I aim to build a strong therapeutic relationship based on trust, empathy and respect, as I believe this forms the foundation for meaningful change.

As a neurodiverse counsellor, I work in a neurodivergent-affirming way. I recognise and value differences in thinking styles, sensory experiences and communication preferences. Therapy is not about 鈥渇ixing鈥 who you are, but about understanding patterns, reducing distress and developing strategies that support your wellbeing in a way that feels authentic and sustainable.

I work with adults, children and young people, and tailor sessions according to age, developmental stage and individual need. I also offer support to trainee therapists.

Sessions are available in person, online or by telephone, providing flexibility and accessibility.

My first session

I understand that attending your first counselling session can feel both important and sometimes a little daunting. The first session is an opportunity for us to begin getting to know one another in a safe and supportive space.

We will explore what has brought you to counselling, what you are hoping for, and any goals you may have. There is no pressure to share everything at once 鈥 we will go at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

I will also explain how I work, discuss confidentiality and its limits, and answer any questions you may have about the counselling process. This is a collaborative space, and it鈥檚 important that you feel informed and able to decide whether working together feels like the right fit.

For children and young people, the first session may include a parent/carer conversation, depending on age and circumstances.

If you choose to continue, we can agree on a way of working that supports your needs and review this together as therapy progresses.
