About me and my therapy practice

In my counselling space you will be encouraged and facilitated to tell your story at your own pace. I will help you to make sense of your experiences and your reactions.

Often our thought patterns and ways of being become so familiar to us that we don’t even notice them anymore. When we slow down, we can observe our patterns of ‘automatic’ thoughts and feelings. Experiencing yourself in this way is called self-awareness and opens up a path to greater self-understanding and self-compassion.

I like the idea that we each live in our own unique map of the world. Sometimes our map will clash in some way with the map of another person in our life, or our map may just have it's own incongruities. This can lead to uncomfortable, confusing or painful experiences, and may call for something of an 'update' or 'rollback' of our map.

By practising a ‘noticing’ state of mind we can open up our awareness, stay ‘present’ and get to know ourselves better. This develops our abilities to know what we really want, to make well-informed decisions in life, to have healthy boundaries and to communicate less reactively in relationships.

Sometimes slowing down a little and taking an extra breath or two is all you need to do to unlock a new understanding of what’s going on for you.

Practice description

I believe the time and space we share in sessions must provide you with a safe environment of unconditional acceptance, where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment. I will support you to tell your story, at your own pace, so that I can understand you in your own personal context and we can explore your goals and ways for you to move forwards.
