About me and my therapy practice

I am an integrative humanistic counsellor and work in a collaborative, relational way. I see you as the expert in your own life, and my role is to work alongside you to help you make sense of your experiences, untangle thoughts and feelings, and find a way forward that feels right for you — or support you in finding acceptance where things feel stuck or out of your control.

My approach is straightforward and open. If I feel something may be helpful to say, I will say it with care. I am actively engaged in sessions, using reflection, questions, and practical tools such as grounding techniques and psychoeducation where helpful. I may also use diagrams or more structured ways of exploring things if that feels useful.

We can work with goals if you have them, and I will check in regularly to make sure you are getting what you need from therapy. Equally, you do not need to come with a clear goal — we can begin wherever you are.

Practice description

You might be feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or unsure where to start. Reaching out for counselling can feel like a big step, and you don’t need to have the right words or explain everything straight away. There is no pressure to share everything all at once — we can go at your pace, focusing on what feels safe, or even just the feelings around something that is difficult to put into words.

I offer in-person counselling in Berkhamsted, with some online availability. I have experience working across private practice, NHS-linked services, charities, schools, and within an Employee Assistance Programme. I support clients with a range of difficulties including anxiety, trauma, low confidence, low mood, burnout, menopause, relationship difficulties, and life transitions.

I have a particular interest in working with neurodivergent clients, including ADHD, autism, dyslexia and dyspraxia. As someone who is neurodivergent myself, I aim to offer a space that feels comfortable and adaptable, including being mindful of communication styles and sensory needs.

I also work with clients who may not have considered therapy before, including men who may find the process unfamiliar or uncomfortable. I aim to offer a space that feels accessible, grounded, and supportive.

My first session

Before our first session, I will ask you to complete a short intake form. This gives you the option to share what has brought you to counselling, if you would like to — many people choose not to fill in this part, and that is absolutely fine. You can share as much or as little as feels comfortable, either on the form or in the session itself. Payment is usually made in advance of the session.

Sessions take place at Naturality Wellness Centre in Berkhamsted. When you arrive, you can let yourself in using the door code (sent in advance) and take a seat in the waiting area downstairs. I will come down to collect you at your appointment time. You’re welcome to help yourself to a drink or use the bathroom while you wait.

The practice is around a 4-minute walk from Berkhamsted station. There is some parking available at the clinic, with additional parking nearby if needed.

In our first session, we will begin by talking about what has brought you to therapy and what you might like from the process. This may include exploring any goals, how you would like us to work together, and answering any questions you may have.

There is no expectation to share everything straight away. We can go at a pace that feels comfortable for you, and you are free to focus on whatever feels most important or manageable in the moment.

Sessions are 50 minutes long and take place in a private and comfortable setting. I will also explain confidentiality, including its limits, so you feel informed and safe in the process.

You are welcome to arrange an initial call before booking if you would like to get a sense of whether I am the right fit for you.At the end of the session, you’re welcome to take some time to reflect on how it felt and let me know if you would like to continue.
