About me and my therapy practice
About me and my therapy practice
Hello! I’m Morag, a qualified counsellor with experience working with a wide variety of people who have their own reasons for seeking support. Prior to counselling I worked for many years supporting young people and their families experiencing adverse circumstances, trauma and neurodiversity. I hold a Masters in Childhood Education and Diploma in SEN. Since qualifying, my passion for supporting people move to where they want to be, has fuelled my focus in trauma recovery.
What I offer.
When you feel ready to share whatever brings us together, I offer compassionate understanding and welcome you to this safe space where you’ll be heard without judgement. By listening closely to what you express and truly understanding your experiences, we can explore emotions, relationships and patterns of behaviour. This helps you get to know yourself better, identify what might be holding you back and, in becoming more resilient, move towards the living the life you desire.
How I work.
I believe you are your own expert, the only one who truly knows you. This means I’m guided by you, what you feel works best at your pace as your story unfolds. Together we can find a way of working that matches you and your experience: we might work with your past and inner self, develop interactive strategies or you might prefer to have freedom to explore. Through increased self-awareness and self-esteem, more helpful patterns can be built, moving you towards the version of you, you want to be.
Practice description
I currently offer online counselling only.
I draw from different therapeutic modalities and aim to tailor practice specifically to you, therefore sessions are pluralistic. This means we’ll work in collaboration, where the route of travel – the pace, input and nature of therapy – will be agreed and a balance of what feels right, guided by training and experience.
My first session
After welcoming you to our first session of 30 minutes, we'll have an opportunity to get to know a bit about each other and how we 'fit'. You'll be able to get a sense of how I work and if it feels right for you and I can hear something of your personal history and what you hope to gain from our work together.
This helps us firstly gain an impression of how well we might work together, which is pivotal to therapeutic success. It also allows gives me an idea of whether I'm able to offer suitable support and if online working is appropriate for your situation.
We'll also have time to discuss our working contract so you're aware of boundaries and the framework for safe, ethical practice. You'll also be able to ask any questions you wish in relation to this.
There is no charge for this initial session.
