About me and my therapy practice
I offer a friendly, open and non-judgemental space where you can be yourself, make sense of what you’re experiencing and start exploring what could be different. Counselling isn’t just about looking back — it’s an opportunity to understand yourself, discover new possibilities and move towards the life you want.
As an integrative counsellor, I draw on different therapeutic approaches according to your individual needs. My work is rooted in a person-centred belief that you are the expert in your own experience, while also recognising that sometimes there is more being communicated than words alone can express.
I am interested in the whole person — not just the story you tell, but also how your experiences may show up in your thoughts, emotions, relationships and body. Together, we can become curious about patterns, responses and feelings that may have become difficult to understand or change.
Rather than simply spending each session going over what has happened, I aim to help you explore your experiences in a way that creates greater awareness, choice and possibility. Where appropriate, this may involve gently bringing attention to what you notice in yourself in the moment and exploring what your responses might be telling you.
I believe counselling should be a collaborative process. I won’t tell you what you should do or try to fit you into a particular way of working. Instead, I will work alongside you, at a pace that feels manageable, helping you develop greater self-understanding, confidence and the ability to make choices that feel right for you.
You don’t need to arrive knowing exactly what you need from counselling. We can discover that together.
Practice description
I work with clients online using a secure video and telephone platform called Konfidens.
I believe counselling works best when it feels like a genuine conversation where you can be yourself, without judgement or pressure. I will listen carefully, ask questions and be curious about what is happening for you, helping you explore your experiences rather than simply telling you what you should do.
As an integrative counsellor, I adapt my approach to you. Some sessions may involve talking through what is happening in your life, while at other times we may slow down and pay attention to your emotions, thoughts, physical responses or patterns that you notice in yourself. I may gently challenge you or invite you to look at something from a different perspective when I feel this could help.
You can expect me to be honest, present and engaged with you. I won’t judge you, make assumptions about you or expect you to have everything figured out. I will work collaboratively with you, respecting your pace while also helping you explore what might be keeping you stuck.
My aim is for our work together to give you more than somewhere to talk. I want you to leave with greater understanding of yourself, increased awareness of your choices and a clearer sense of how you can move forward.
My first session
When you contact me I will arrange a 15 minute free telephone consultation so that we can find out how we could work together. You can ask me any questions that you may have and I can get an understanding of why you are reaching out for support.
If you decide that you would like to book an initial session with me we would arrange a day and time for the session and I would send you out some documentation to complete and return to me. This allows me to understand more about your situation and also allows me to let you know about the service and its boundaries.
I would send you out a link for your session and we would meet and go from there.
The session fee would be paid ahead of the session on booking to secure your space.
